Thrik
Well, to put it succinctly: gamers got bored of WW2. Can you blame them? However the style of gameplay lives on in Call of Duty and Battlefield. I do miss DoD's unique flavour, but Battlefield delivers similar on a larger scale. CoD has too much emphasis on deathmatch for me.

Mazy
Just wait, in a few years WW2 will be super hot again! Just need the Modern Warfare fatigue to kick in properly
Thrik
Oh yeah CoD is far from a DoD equivalent, but the actual gunplay and such is very similar. Battlefield is definitely closer but obviously it's a huge game in comparison. It is unfortunate DoD's particular style is AWOL at the moment. Personally I love Battlefield and it's officially become my replacement for years of DoD addiction. On a good server many of the principles that made DoD so awesome are present. I really do miss DoD, though. Get so nostalgic thinking about those 2am games during the early/beta releases on the likes of Oslo, Hill, Caen, etc! Bunglo
Haven't played DoD in years. Was extremely fun for the first few years, are the servers usually filled up still?
Izuno
Of course I'm biased but it's still my favorite team based shooter game of all time. I can't believe it was almost a decade ago I worked on that...wow.
WD
Yes! we demand more WW2! Modern wars suck. But look no further because Red Orchestra 2 is bringing WW2 shooters back to their rightful place, hopefully. Don't know about you but I think it seems really really promising
