deceiver
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/02 ... odern-day/ Ubisoft have just confirmed another Call Of Juarez (the cowboy FPS series from Techland) game, this time called The Cartel. Here’s what they say about it: “Call of Juarez The Cartel is set in present-day and brings the best elements of the Wild West to a new and modern setting. As a first person shooter with an immersive and mature story, players can expect to embark on a journey like no other – one that will take them from the heart of modern day Los Angeles, California to Juarez, Mexico.” It will also have a “gritty and relevant plot”, and it will be out this summer. I also hear Ubi preview events a-callin’, so proper details shouldn’t be too far away. Bit of an odd choice I must say, but I'll wait and see. I quite enjoyed the two last games. Bunglo
Love the CoJ series, though I'm a bit disappointed with the modern day setting. Their wild west theme was what attracted me to the games in the first place. Hopefully it's still a great game though.
Mazy
Odd indeed, but I kinda like it, could be interesting. Second Call of Juarez was actually really good.
Pampers
coolio, i really liked the previous game^^. Moving it to a modern day setting may be a smart move since making another cowboy game would ultimately be compared to RDR
-HP-
call of juarez: modern warfare Sorry techland, I don't think you're getting my money this time around, sign me very very skeptical. I loved the first Call of Juarez, very distinct from anything we had back then, added loads of interesting gameplay elements, two different characters with two distinct gameplay styles, etc. CoJ2 whereas it was really nice, it is a very consolized shooter game, but oh well, it still had it's good moments. I apologize if I am jumping to conclusions here, I just hope I'm very wrong. I'm just basing myself on what I read and that mag cover but oh well, it just irritates me how everyone wants to grab a slice of Call of Duty. Pampers
so now every game in modern era is a call of duty ripoff?
Furyo
I'm still very much waiting for a game to portray the harsh realities and violence of a cartel war, breaking bad style. Sign me up if you guys go for the full hardcore depiction mode.

But I also doubt it would be without risk, there'd probably be plenty of people that would be turned way off by something like that.

Bunglo
Desert environment looks spot on, really like. That's one of the reasons I like the previous games, I've always been attracted to that kind of terrain.
Jetsetlemming
Those environments look REALLY good. The characters not so much, but those environments are very cool. Also I thought the driving looked really good. Not sure how to quantify that, but the bit with weaving through traffic looked very smooth. Of course it also kinda sorta reminds me of Enter the Matrix. Hopefully if you aren't playing as the driving character the AI doesn't just constantly run the car into walls and pillars.
