Sentura Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 Well they're not all in black, they have all kinds of camo but photos are rare.. but my point was that their equipment is a lot more modern than depicted in those concepts ;\ Also.. what spetsnaz are they? Spetsnaz is a slang of spetsgruppa, meaning "special unit" of which is divided into many different units, alpha and vympel of the FSB, OMSN, GRU, OMON... I can go on. Battlefield 3, I am looking to you to show those silly people at IW how it's done! i love it when d3 posts about russia, it's like the history lesson about RUS))) i never got Quote
D3ads Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 D3 they don't depict US forces accurately so what hope has Russia got? Just accept it's an alternate reality — which it is — and don't worry about the finer details so much. Don't forget this is a series where the last PC title looked like this: Haha, good point.. I really don't know what they were thinking about with that one! Anyhow, I don't expect them to be 100% accurate, it'd just be nice for them to look somewhat like they do in reality. I mean the rangers in MW2 are fictionalised somewhat and not real but they look a lot closer to the real-life soldiers than the Ruskies do. D3ads, don't be full of shit The Russian Army is not as neat and tidy when it comes to uniforms and equipment as, say, the US army. You've basically found their posterboy squads I'm not full of shit, honest! Those are the modern uniforms of alpha unit (urban design), some of those photos are PR I admit but some are training, just because you haven't seen them in action is because there haven't been any issues for them to deal with. They used to wear randomised equipment but they're becoming more "westernised" now. Alpha still operating in anti-terror operations in Dagestan and Ingushetia still wear old overalls.. but there are several units there and you're not meant to be able to tell which is which. Also, those character classes are fucking HAWT. Like the Assault alot. Love the uniform (Gorka E or S). Support is pretty cool too with his telnyashka and Maska (right?) helmet Don't get me wrong, the models themselves are pretty good, apart from the weird gas mask but the clothing is too random, kamysh mixed with blue fatigues, blue digital camo and les (forest) etc.. and the recon looks like Gaz from MW1 with some extra bits... it's odd, just a reworking of the camos and colours would be fine and some insignias... I think I should do a paintover Yes, telnyashka is right... made in the USSR It should only be visible in the collar area though, because they are usually just under garment vests; The helmet isn't Maska, these are maska; It's called Altyn; http://ra.spetsnaz.su/wiki/Altyn Russians stole the design from the Swiss, well sorta Russia is a 3rd world country. With rails and EOtech, right? Quote

Look at basically any regiment that operates in Chechnya or was a part of the force in South Ossetia... that shit ain't tight, dawg I mean you've read it yourself; dog food! Also ... how big is Alpha? They're not even technically part of the Army! But yes, the russians are tidying up, but have some way to go before they're done. Their Izlom-camo shows they are on the right track... so sexy <333 Are you sure it's an Altyn btw? The maska comes in several variants and some look pretty much like the one you mentioned but are, as far as I know, far more common. Titanium helmetry ain't cheap lol Quote
Skjalg Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 He is wearing that helmet and a shield. You sure he's not a heavy knight? Quote

Btw apparently BF3 takes place in 2030 so really they should not look so ragtagged eh? Alpha is part of the FSB, not the army but they still operate in military operations, they were in Afghanistan in the 80s when alpha was still under the KGB. Are you sure it's an Altyn btw? Titanium helmetry ain't cheap lol Maska isn't used so much anymore, spetsnaz units in the MVD use them in all variations but afaik Altyn and K6-3 (a more heavy duty successor to altyn) are the standard now, at least for alpha. That is definately altyn in the concept, you can tell from the shape of the visor and the design of the helmet itself, similar to maska but evolved more. Quote

Sentura Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 let's also discuss the color of the berets spetnaz use, clearly theyre using green ones. Quote
Psy Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Battlefield Barbie's Dress Up game Quote
Thrik Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Btw apparently BF3 takes place in 2030 Maybe Russia falls even further from its former glory and doesn't have the budget for consistent uniforms. Quote
dux Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 Is d3 complaining about the portrayal of russia again Quote
Serenius Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 D3 needs to bite the bullet and get a job as a character designer/artist or mother Russia will never have accurate uniforms. Quote
st0lve Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 It's not a realism simulator.... Quote
Zyn Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 New Battleblog post explaining all the gamemodes available : http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlef ... ained.aspx Team DM : 12vs12 Squad DM : 4 squads of 4 players Rush : 16vs16 Squad Rush : 4vs4 Conquest : 32vs32 (Consoles gets 12vs12) Rush details, changes we would've liked in BC2 but pushed into BF3 instead: * You cannot use explosives or shoot at the M-COM to take it out. Only arm and disarm. * If the attacking team arms the M-COM but runs out of tickets, the match will continue until the M-COM detonates or defenders disarm it * If the defenders start disarming an M-COM just before it’s about to blow, the explosion is prevented until the disarm is accomplished. If the defender gets killed during the disarm process, the M-COM will instantly blow Welp, going to play Conquest all day every day then, I've missed them huge battles. Beta, come on! Quote
