st0lve Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Somehow I'm kinda tired of the standard generic FPS game that is released each year... How about a small team tactical shooter for once? Like the golden days of Rainbow 6... Quote

So this doesn't include battlefield 3 then, since its not the standard generic FPS game that is released each year.. rather its the epic kick you in the face biggest and best multiplayer experience released every 2 - 3 years. :santahurg: But I do miss me a good tactical shooter like rainbow. Jetsetlemming Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I can't play Rainbow Six anymore. I could totally figure that tactical map shit out as a kid, but now it's like a foreign language to me. No idea how to do anything. When I want tactical, I play L4D2, because of the planning you have to do as infected. Quote

Thrik Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 It is true that bigger isn't always better. I remember the MMOFPS PlanetSide which didn't have a cap I was aware of, and the most fun battles were the ones which featured 50–80 people. It felt epic, but it wasn't so ridiculously OTT that you were getting killed within milliseconds and there were too many threats in every direction to coordinate yourself or think straight. More players than that invariably led to a frustrating experience and made my favourite way of playing, stealth, impossible — so I usually decided to go off and find some smaller skirmish somewhere else on the continent. I am actually playing planetside now, and the only viable way to play and have fun is to be in a squad/outfit on TS or which ever Vop you prefer. Anyhow, I agree bigger isnt better. I love the battles around 64 vs 64 ratio. Quote

Mazy Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Hehe not quite as sweet as the first one, but its still pretty cool. Though it doesn't really feel as tense as it could when they all more or less sit up and could be picked off by the sniper at the end, starts off well tho. Quote
Warby Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 compared to the first vid i thought that was super lame. both content and tech wise. the arm and weapon models really looks jarringly out of place while prone the bright outline between the geom and the ssao doesnt make it better. when the building collapses it cuts away while everything is filled with particles before we could actually see what the dynamic destruction was really like. extreme nitpick: at 1.44 and there were some lighting/shadowing glitches on the stock of the gun ... i thought we were beyond that kind of thing these days. Wesley Tack Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I think they mainly wanted to show of the character animations in this movie. Which is really nice imHo. Quote
dux Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 Good job that the sniper was a terrible shot. They were practically in plain sight at the end of the video. Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Anyone else get in the Battlefield Play 4 Free beta? I haven't heard or seen anyone talking about it except for a post on RPS that it exists. I tried reading over the usage agreement to see if it's got a strict NDA or something, and while it very well might, as the best I could decipher the legalese it strictly limited me sharing the game, not talking about it. First impression: It's a Beta. Like, super beta. Almost alpha beta. Edit: Looked again and it looks like we are indeed forbidden from talking about it. Good thing I was vague! Quote
