e-freak Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 this looks promising. can you show some actual uneditied gameplay? Quote
Chrjs Posted January 26, 2011 Author Report Posted January 26, 2011 Yes, a gameplay trailer will follow in one of the next updates, but at this time I'm so busy with the work on the levels and my education intermediate testing, so it's difficult to spend much time on a trailer and the gameplay isn't polished for example the dialouges are missing ingame, so please be patient. Chrjs Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 Welcome to the newest update of Wreckage! In this news we present you our own models and the custom weapons. The Black Hawk helicopter: Our teammember Jaco_E sat a long time on the helicopter for the american forces, he worked on it, draw the textures and made it ready for Crysis. After the release of Wreckage the helicopter will be available in the download section. The tents: The koreans need them for the communication and weapon stores, they have also very good covers with sandbags between the metal poles. One other tent will follow and they were created and textured by Jaco_E. The concrete walls: Very useful covers for the american marines and maybe against something more aggressive than the koreans. Created and textured by Jaco_E again. The weapons: We use the best weapons of Crymod.com from talented modders for our mod. Thanks to Ror-Shak for the great work of the HK Ump45 and to Olli. who is responsible for the M110, you could download the two under this links. H&K UMP-45 M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System Last words: And at least a very sadly news for us: Jupp left the team (he would worked on the third level FlowGraphs) because of his spare free time. Tell us your feedback and stay tuned for the next updates. Quote
Chrjs Posted February 23, 2011 Author Report Posted February 23, 2011 So, here is the gameplay trailer. Hello Wreckage fans! We come to you once again with an update about the work of Marwin Misselhorn and the first gamplay video. Marwin is responsible for the programming work and the scripting of the first of three levels. To say it simply it's is his passion to assemble all the loose elements to a playable game. Flow Graphs: The most extensive task are the Flow Graphs. They need to be arranged in a modular construction system and controlls all the actions in-game like the mission objectives or the movement of your teammates. In this picture you can see a detail of his work, these FlowGraphs are needed for less than 20 minutes play time! Subtitle system: Thanks to our nice assisting voice actors we have high quality dialogues in Wreckage, but of course english subtitles also. To show them like in the original Crysis we have to write a special code for each of the sentences with the description of all sound effects that should put on the dialogue. For example there are typical radio or background effects like weapons and explosions. So he wrote this programm where you could select the speaker character, the volume of the voice and it's effects. The "background fading" controls how quiet all other sounds will be if this dialogue is spoken and the "character function" controls the colour of the subtitle. Objective system: From Rainy Days we learned how difficult it is to lead the player to do the correct things in the right time! In addiction to the leading leveldesign and the instructions of the other teammates there is a point in the game environment that shows you the current duty in real time. Name system: According to this system, name notifications are used for a definite identification of the story characters, as soon as a person is focused. A= The displayed name has to be in front of the underline B= The script C= The ingame result Gameplay Trailer I This is where it all starts, the beginning of the first level of Wreckage. You and your squadmates overrun an adversarial village in search for the hostage Dr. Lyra Hendricson. We hope this gives you a small taste of what the mod will be like! This video was recorded before the objective system was finished, so this is the alpha stage. In the final mod the tank shouldn't drive so fast in the village. The trailer shows what we call "introductive gameplay", we took the standart Crysis situations and created a new one with a few modifications like the teammates, in the next trailer you could await the custom weapons and exciting indoor action at night, so stay tuned and we love to hear your feedback. Chrjs Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 Ladies and gentlemen, today we have something big for you! A big update full of screenshots the second gameplay trailer and a closer look into the leveldesign. After we showed the work of Marwin Misselhorn and Thomas Jacobs in the last updates, today it's time for the leveldesign which is a main part of my work. We'll go much deeper into the whos and whys of my thoughts about the different aspects (leveldesign/story/workflow) of Wreckage in a special news in the future or in a post mortem. Screenshots Gameplay Trailer II The second one of our gameplay trailers plays a long time after the happenings of the first one. It was recorded in the alpha stage and a is little bit darker than in game. In Wreckage you won't be all the time together with the friendly marines, We use the team action to give you a much more better feeling of a lively world around you and to tell the story more exciting, but you don't have to stay close to them all the time, in many cases the leveldesign allows you to fight your own battle like you want to. "Voices of yesterdays" The video starts in the old harbour where the trilogy ends, you have to infiltrate the rusty dockyard for the search of friendly marines who are calling for help over the radio. Speedmapping Video And after the depressing atmosphere of the last video, here is one funnier video, it shows me by creating five seconds for a jeep ride scene which is also placed in the old rusty harbour docks. It hasn't be to detailled because in this scene you're more interested in save your live from the gunfire of the enemies than exploring the environment and the performance has to be great too. That's it for todays update, I hope you like it and we love to hear your feedback. Quote
Chrjs Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Now I thought about replacing the three koreans from the last gameplayvideo at the beginning (who stood at the other side of the dockyard and were attacked by the aliens) with a heavy machinegun soldier who is invulnerable. So the player could walk around and attack him from the side. Do you think this is an addiction to the gameplay or a bad idea, because I think that every player wants to kill him first and maybe it's frustrating. How could I suppose the player to walk the circle around the hall to get the enemy? I have lights to show the way, but what could I add to make it clear? Quote
