Kedhrin
Howdy, So I'm getting ready for GDC here... and Im going to polish up one of my levels for the event. The artists are on polycount, whoring their stuff. So, I may as well do the same! Get some feedback, make it nice, sexy, delicious. I want to do a log of my work. I'll show you guys what I'm doing, slap me up, kick me in the groin, slap my butt, pick me up, dance with me...shit yeah. who the shit am i? Some of you may know me from a while ago. I'm a mapcore veteran, raised on the internets like most of these guys. I took a long break from getting involved with communities because I was going through a lot of personal transformations. However, I miss talking to everyone and being involved with the community I was raised in. Even if I was an asshat. Well, actually, i'm still an asshat. I'm the Creative Director and Co-Founder of IllFonic. We're a game development studio based out of Denver, Colorado. We started 3 years ago and its been one hell of a ride. We started with working on a game called Ghetto Golf, powered by Unreal Engine 3. Ghetto Golf is definitely our baby project. I worked really hard on the design of the game and its something I'm really proud of. However, we put it on the back-burner until after our current project. what this is? We're releasing a game soon on 360/PS3/PC. The game is called Nexuiz (
e-freak
Wall of Text but what you show looks really decent! Give everyone a shout over there in Denver I feel that some of the Screens are a bit too dark, especially in comparison to the Conceptart shown above, but maybe that's something that works better in movement with the bright characters running through. I hope to have different gradients for indoor/outdoor areas soon, it'll really help me with changing it some more. But yeah, when you see the reflections moving on the surfaces/the glowy characters running around its fairly easy to navigate. But I'm also working on these Deltra Ultrasharps, I gotta get some low end monitors soon haha
ShadoW_
I like what I see besides two things: -Looks like UT3 rip off (sorry). looks way too much like UT art, especially when I try to remember some custom maps for it. If I wouldn't know, I have been sure it's just another UT3 map. -I don't like that huuuge gun model. It takes about 20 percent of the screen plane, way too much. Should be much smaller. Please, don't take those as anything more as my own, personal feelings. It doesn't change in any way that map looks really good. I wisj you good luck with the new Nexuiz! e-freak
I'm not too bothered with the Gunsize but looking at it, it's really bright and drawing my attention to the gun instaed of to a possible enemy due to the massive contrast in that part of the image. Maybe try toning that down (if it's not caused by the Lighting/Cubemaps in that very region )
Kedhrin
Yeah I was standing directly under a light in that shot but more than likely some of the contrast on some of the guns is too high. we're hopefully doing a texture pass on a lot of the weapons in a week or so. I've also toned down a lot of the lightsin the level... still trying to get used to how the deferred lights work the best with these materials I don't really see UT map at all in it, completely far opposite of my art references, but it looking like UT for you isn't necessarily a bad thing
Kedhrin
heyooo--- so i got some updates... a week til GDC so nothing but polish still... there isn't too much visual differences here other than some clearly obvious chandelier/banners everywhere. and color grading... which i'm still playing with... most of my time was spent on performance so it runs better on 360/PS3. anyways - happy i'm where i am within the time and i'm excited for this next week of polish as i'm almost to a point where i can sign off on the level until we go into gold polish.
