xfckup Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Hi there, though until now i mainly mapped in radiant for the cod games, i find this site very interesting to browse and see how critical you guys discuss about artworks and techniques. I am working on my personal portfolio after i have been working for some years doing architectual visualisation, but lately i've been more and more into modding and creating custom maps (star wars mod for call of duty4), and my portfolio shall reflect that. I hope to get some constructive critisism, but wouldn't mind if you`d say that my stuff sucks Anyway, here ist the link http://xfckup.carbonmade.com/ Its still heavy wip, as i don't have any CV yet (just quit my Job in December but have been recruited from University by my previous employer) and i am in the process of assessing my future options of continuing arch-vis or trying to get a job in the gaming industry. So please excuse my atm very poor about page And yeah, i know that a star wars mod is not the most original idea, but i like star wars and it was easy to work along the original trilogy art direction. cheers! jaboo224 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 wow fantastic starwars stuff there. Also i love the look of your maps. Looks like solid portfolio for what you have done so far Quote
insta Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Flabbergasting work! If you decide on going to the games industry instead of architectural visualization then I don't think you will have any problems finding a job! Quote
Serenius Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Really nice looking maps you have there. I would recommend putting in some space and use a larger font between projects. Right now it's really easy to miss where one set of screen shots ends and a new one begins. Might also be a good idea to provide an overhead layout shot of your MP levels if you're interested in moving to design work. Also, your Space Slug screen shots are too dark to see anything but the Millennium Falcon and fog. You have some beautiful assets in there, make sure people can see them. Quote
Evert Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Really nice stuff! Agreeing about the font size Quote
Skjalg Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I'm guessing that star wars mod is getting a lot of praise for its screenshots all thanks to you Superb work! Quote
FrieChamp Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Because noone else will: your stuff sucks! Quote
e-freak Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 awesome. some of the most polished pictures on a portfolio in a long time! for a games industry job i guess some presentation of another engine but quake3/cod might be usefull (or at least a hint in your about page, that you know unreal or cryengine) Quote
sarge mat Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 /adds to delicious bookmarks Stunning work! Get Lucas Arts to hire you and make me a new Republic Commando game Quote
Furyo Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 A highly skilled person with a very well made portfolio, congrats on hitting everything right Although, just to be a nitpicky bastard, you could spend a little time on making your own website rather than using the same carbonmade template everyone already has. It would make your content shine even more (I'm not digging the grey text overlay) Quote
xfckup Posted January 25, 2011 Author Report Posted January 25, 2011 thank you for the feedback i am going to incorporate the suggestions into the portfolio as far as i can right now... Quote
Mazy Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 What everybody else said; Excellent portfolio. Really cool with the Star Wars mod for COD4, that sounds like a pretty sweet combo with their core mechanics actually~ Quote
dux Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Hey man, your star geek stuff gives me a boner. Quote
Minos Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I have MW installed since forever but never got around to playing it. I think I'll run it for the first now, to check out that SW mod! Quote
