I haven't heard of nuclear races before, but they look like a solid group. I did a similar one called dirty dozen and it was brutal.

Yes, nosing through cross posts I've found out there are proper teams competing in this sort of runs, and read about that.

Been to Nuclear because my gf is in Essex and half hour drive from the bunker, but I'm definitely gonna do some more so I'll look at other stuff; there's a Sparta something sponsored by reebok I understand, like several events to compete into… now it makes more sense some shop display I've seen months ago.

The few I know of are the "nuts challenge" which is more of a fun run according to my sister who finished their 7k, "dirty dash/dozen/destroyer" all of which simply exist to punish anyone who dares try them, "tough mudder" and I guess the "iron man" is sort of in the same line of bodily destruction.

I'm looking to do the dirty dozen again with a group of people, but I need to seriously work on my upper body strength and stamina everything for it. But then snorlax probably has better stamina than me...

I really wonder how more quickly I could have done it without having to wait for anyone. I'm thinking half hour for sure.

Have a look at the nuclear if you're in the area Jack, I found it easy, but there were sections that you needed to have strength to pull up a rope and such.

I've heard about the nuts challenge from a colleague that has done it, but from what you say (and the pic he showed me) doesn't seem it's so bodily intensive.

Nuclear Fallout was 8k (one i run) and 16k "onslaught" (competitive, 300 or 500£ prize).

The one coming up in May is 6k and 12k.

They are doing trials in December, timed 400mt to train.

Cool selection of obstacles there, are they all? They seem yes a bit repetitive. We didn't have fire, we had lots of ditches, wooden walls of different heights (last one to be climbed with rope) and rope walls, pipes to slide in, "backscratcher" (crawl on back), carry a sack of potatoes, the slowest section was called the quarry and was up & down like 5-6 times steep muddy slopes to climb with ropes. There was a version of the spider wall, but with the small bits found in indoor climbing for feet.

The coolest bit was the zip line followed by the slide that I posted.

Gonna post more pics as they get published.

@Jackophant: here there's a timelapse from some guy, you can see all the obstacles on the 8k run if you are interested. Also on the organisation fb page you can see a few albums of the 16k obstacles
