Jetsetlemming Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Hydrophobia: Prophecy seems determined to be aggressively disappointing. The water looks and behaves awesomely but you almost never actually need to use it for gameplay reasons, it's either just set dressing or a huge pain in the ass, slamming props into you, ragdoll stunlocking you into death. The controls are not too bad, but the camera aggressively snaps to "default" positions like it's still assuming I'm controlling it with a right thumb stick I have to leave alone to interact with shit, and those default positions are frequently looking straight at the wall, not up or down, as I'm climbing on shit. The main character is constantly making whiny pain noises as I walk around for no reason, and they put jiggle physics in there despite her dressed in sports clothes (which itself contrasts with her being a sys admin according to the plot). I bought this game when it comes out on steam. I have never been able to play correctly because the performances were very bad. It's better now ? Quote

It ran fine enough for me mostly, but when the terrorist guys would catch on fire because I blew something up near them performance would go to shit until I looked away. Most of the time it was playable enough for me not to mention it among my complaints, but I don't know what kind of PC you've got. Mine's pretty bottom of the barrel (dual core and Radeon 4670). Froyok Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Quad core i7, 8gb of ram and gtx470 when I ran the game. Most of the time I had 40 fps and some drops to 20/30 fps in certain area. I will see if now it's better, if for you it's almost okay ! Quote
Steppenwolf Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Started playing LA Noire... not impressed :/ Same here. Only played the first couple missions. The "story" feels really disjointed and the controls clunky. Does it get better? Quote

The "story" feels really disjointed and the controls clunky. Does it get better? Hell if I know, I haven't given the game another chance yet. In any case, I completely agree with you. For example, I was seriously thinking "wtf?!" during the first mission when the flashlight was tied to your characters movement and not to the camera... I also found the open world to be not only ugly, but lifeless. Mafia 2 ran twice as smooth and looked twice as good (then again, that was basically what was good about it). Quote
knj Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 You guys are playing it on console or PC ? I heared that PC ver is much much nicer in graphics, i finished X360 ver tho, and yea graphics are not the hi-end Quote
Jake Gilla Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 I bought it for PS3 when it first came out, fought my way up to Vice telling myself the story was going to kick in any minute, and then just gave up. One of the few games I've traded in the last couple years. Quote
knj Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 I was in the same exact spot, in Vice with no will to go on, but someone here told me to do it, becouse it will become better, and the ending part is pretty good, so try to work on it Quote
kleinluka Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Finally bought a PS3 and playing Red Dead Redemption... I Looooove it Quote
Minos Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Finally bought a PS3 and playing Red Dead Redemption... I Looooove it Now see the same game running on 360 and regret forever for having half the resolution on 90% of multiplatform games! Quote
Puddy Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Dota 2... slowly but surely gatting the hang of it (emphasis on the slowly). Pretty fun. I have given up on LA Noire for now... Quote
