Maybe they're holding back until they can fix it permanently, since the band-aid solutions weren't received well, but it's a sad state at the moment. I'm aware but dw I'll stick in the community server. Quote
Beck Posted December 3, 2021 Report Posted December 3, 2021 Mostly Dead by Daylight when I get some downtime (Currently free on Epic by the way!) but I am doing some charity streams this month so might dig out Skyrim and if I hit a goal I'll do a scary game. Someone sent me Evil Within (is it scary?) so will potentially play that! blackdog 1 Quote
Bunglo Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 The more I play Exodus, the more I like it. I've gotten vibes from multiple games at certain points throughout my playthrough, all in the best way. Farcry 2, Rage, and a few others. There's also a large amount of environmental variation in the levels, and that is cool as hell. Quote

It’s in every horror collection/event/sale. It’s very gory that’s for sure, I think to remember the reviews saying it was good in terms of thriller. I have it but still haven’t played it. Quote
Beck Posted December 7, 2021 Report Posted December 7, 2021 I gave it a go on stream and quite enjoyed it, finished the first two chapters. Will probably continue it, kinda gave me Alan Wake vibes in terms of gameplay but god damn are the black bars annoying! No real idea what's going on in terms of story but I'm sure all will make sense soon enough! -HP- and blackdog 2 Quote

I still played it back in the day, found it to be rather innovative in many aspects. If you like survival horror where every bullet matter, this is for you. The latter stages of the game are downright psychedelic, amazing environmental art. The sequel fixes a lot of the problems that the first one had, but funny enough I didn't find the presentation as good as the first. But I also really enjoyed playing through it. blackdog and Beck 2 Quote
FMPONE Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 Picked up Hades thus far it reminds me a *LOT* of Dead Cells. I eventually got bored of that one, but I can see myself returning to this when I'm feeling like chilling and killing stuff -HP- 1 Quote
-HP- Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 I picked up Supraland upon it being recommended by a friend, and I'm really enjoying it. It has that rough edge that many indies have, but it's really creative. Quote
will2k Posted February 27, 2022 Report Posted February 27, 2022 Just started playing a free Half-Life mod called "Half-Life: Field Intensity"; This was released 5 days ago, and apparently this has been under development for 13 years (on and off since 2009) and should play similar to Opposing Force (you play as a corporal among the soldiers assaulting Black Mesa facility) It's free on moddb https://www.moddb.com/mods/field-intensity/ Pericolos0, FMPONE and Squad 3 Quote
ThunderKeil Posted March 17, 2022 Report Posted March 17, 2022 Picked up Far Cry (1) which I'd been intending to take a look at for a while It's interesting to see what the series started off with. One thing that stands out to me is the ability to fire a vehicle's mounted gun without having to jump into the gunner seat, which I enjoy. No [detection] bloops over the enemies' heads either which is honestly refreshing . . not sure whether 2 has those already or not. The combat's pretty solid once you get into the groove of it, at least in the first half(?) of the game. The enemies definitely deal more damage than in the rest of the series but it's paced well. Not enjoying the tanky mutant soldiers as much as the human ones. Kind of annoyed by the weapon scope getting cancelled when I strafe 9 inches blackdog and Squad 2 Quote
ThunderKeil Posted May 12, 2022 Report Posted May 12, 2022 Not actually something recent but kind of a retrospective; Played war thunder quite a bit throughout roughly mid 2020 to mid 2021, coming from someone who mostly plays fps I have to say it was refreshing in many aspects. Compared to (pc) fps titles, it's certainly cool to actually be able to sneak up around someone and not just have them snap a 180 on you at the last second. In the same vain, positioning becomes a lot more meaningful when you can't just go prone at the push of a button, and movement in general becomes more interesting when people can't go from full sprint to complete standstill on a dime. All of that gets blown off the table by its frankly ridiculous restrictions on f2p accounts, though. There's plenty to be said about microtransactions in most modern titles, but war thunder literally will not let you pick which maps you want to play on unless you're paying for the privilege. As a relevant aside; most of the maps are fuckawful. Don't get me wrong, it makes sense - this way they can keep queue times low on all maps for paying customers - but it really makes for a terrible user experience. Relevant aside #2; leaving a match early nets you a, like, 5 minute cooldown - in casual play. ( it's more complex than that but it's irrelevant to the point ) It can be a lot of fun & makes for a great ''well I have 10 minutes to spare'' kind of game, but I'm glad to have quit it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone as is. blackdog 1 Quote
ZZZ Posted May 24, 2022 Report Posted May 24, 2022 I'm taking a shot at Dark Forces after decades. Boy, the level design in this game is overly complicated and confusing. blackdog 1 Quote
NikiOo Posted May 24, 2022 Report Posted May 24, 2022 I got the Witcher 3 on sale. I had very low expectations of the combat, but it turned out to be good. It's much closer to Dark Souls than it is to other shitty open world games like assassin's creed, spiderman, and what have you. I decided to play without a mini-map cause it felt more immersive and I enjoy learning to pay attention to my surroundings and to recognize places and people. I used my ears to find the blacksmith instead of the mini-map. There was this side quest where you had to help some soldier find his lost daughter. After asking around I found out that she was last seen going into *the woods*. I walk the outskirts of the village looking for what *the woods* might be referring to. I see trees of roughly equal density in all directions. I decide to open my map to get a better idea of where *the woods* might be. And then I see it. A large dense forest north of the village. And the most infuriating thing - a quest marker in some very specific location in the forest. The other characters never mentioned exactly where she was supposed to be. "I will go look for her", said Gerald, and silly me thought I was going to look for her, but no, Geralt knows exactly where to go. They could have put a question mark on the edge of the forest like start looking here and then I would have used my witcher senses TM to find the pack of wolves. Some quests are better at this sort of thing. There was another quest that said "find the abandoned village with the well" and I didn't need a quest marker for that. The game has looked incredible so far, except for the first inn you go to with other witcher. That place looked awful. Quote
AlexM Posted May 25, 2022 Report Posted May 25, 2022 Darkest Dungeon again. I get stuck in that game every once in a while then walk away but it keeps bringing me back. Quote
Thrik Posted May 27, 2022 Report Posted May 27, 2022 I don’t know what it is about this damn game, but I’m now playing through Death Stranding for the third time. My first time I just focused on the story, my second time I tried to max out all the facilities and had building/vehicle sharing disabled so it was extra isolating, and even after like 80 hours had only just reached the nuked city. Now I’m trying to be more balanced, where I have the sharing back on and I’m perhaps not being quite so obsessive about maxing everything out as I go along. This is also the Director’s Cut and the first time I’ve played it with 4K and HDR. So pretty. I am technically also playing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for the second time, for the last eight months. I have been off and on with Ghost of Tsushima also. Radu 1 Quote
