yes i did swim to that rock. It is at Hat Rai Lei Beach in Krabi, Thailand- if you have seen the papers, you may have noticed a beach with 50 foot waves about to kill a bunch of beach goers fromt he tsunami... just tragic-

I urge anyone who has some spare cash to donate now, to the red cross, or to my friends fund.

The disaster in Asia has horrified people the world over but it has hit me quite close to my heart. The village that I worked in for the first four months of my stay in Thailand (Ban Talae Nork), as well as a number of other villages that I worked in during this time, were almost completely destroyed. Thirty-nine people were lost from my village (1/5 of the people living there) including the chief and his wife, the teacher at the local school and 12 children. The village where my research station was based (Hat Praphat) lost 70 people and a small village just along the beach from our sanctuary (Paklong) was completely destroyed. All but 2 people were lost from this village, the survivors climbing trees and watching as their friends and families tried in vain to run to higher ground. But as there were no tourists at these villages, you will never hear their names mentioned on the news, you will never see the losses that they face and thier lost loved ones will just be another number amoungst the 150 000+.

Again, donations to the relief fund can be made by visiting:
