Taylor Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 I really hate this Diretide debacle. When developers use phrases like "gamer entitlement" it's often laced with arrogance, but in this instance it's justified. In /r/DotA2 they were even looking for a Volvo courier to commemorate... what? Spamming an unrelated subreddit with a bad in-joke, spamming negative reviews on metacritic, finding CyborgMatt's phone number and harassing him in real-life? Unfortunately this has also given the message that if fans complain loudly enough and disruptively enough Valve will comply. And nobody actually likes Diretide, the draw of the event is it allows you to grind for a higher frequency of cosmetic item drops.Anyway, in other news, the delayed update they were planning to release instead is here now with two more heroes. http://www.dota2.com/threespirits Quote
Sentura Posted November 14, 2013 Author Report Posted November 14, 2013 That's a pretty interesting take on Storm Spirit. I could get behind this, Ember spirit sounds especially interesting. Quote
AlexM Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 Never even heard of this diretide thing before. Is this a separate game mode or is it part of the main game for a period of time? The new characters look cool. Begging for an all spirit team Quote
Em' Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 New update coming with hopefully some new heroes : legion commander is teased on Frostivus, some people are talking of Winter Wyvern, Arc Warden and Wraith king ! And a bonus rampage : selmitto 1 Quote

Taylor Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Hahaha, mouse over the bullet point about shop items getting stuck. Pretty cool patch. Legion Commander has now changed sex and race. selmitto 1 Quote
Sjonsson Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) Pretty cool patch indeed, haven't played Frostivus yet (dunno if there's any change since last year?). Legion Commander is really badass and I just love how Valve is not going for the "big boobs"-approach like Riot Games. On that note, here's Guinsoo everyone! EDIT: For those who don't know, Guinsoo was the second developer of the Dota 1 map which Icefrog took over. Edited December 13, 2013 by Sjonsson Quote
Taylor Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) Pendragon is another controversial figure that used to work on DotA1 but now works for Riot Games. When League launched he deleted the DotA1 site and replaced it with a League advert. Stay classy. They recently added Jinx who was the first non-child female character not to have huge boobage, although she is flat as a board and in a bikini so it comes across as a fetish more than anything else. Taylor Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 No, fuck all that. What the hell. Quote

Still pretty... lolwut? Why do they have to look attractive at all. The void champs aren't attractive so... meh? Edited December 13, 2013 by Chimeray Quote
AlexM Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 That was a pretty stupid thing to say/think. That said in LoL Guinsoo tends to make the fun champions then Morello gets his hands on them and homogenizes them until they are basically a reskin of another character. Anyways today is my last day of school, hopefully I graduate. So I"m moving from LoL back to DOTA2. So Taylor and anyone else playing I'm down for some games if you see me on steam. I may have already said this in the thread but I think the reason I play LoL during school is it seems to take a lot less brain power what with the passives and less dynamic gameplay. selmitto 1 Quote
Taylor Posted January 3, 2014 Report Posted January 3, 2014 Lulu, Orianna and Riven are probably the most fun champions for me, and are distinctly League specific, so I would say Xypherous. I find Guinsoo's champions are generally limited in "play making" potential, although I used to play Annie and Evelynn a lot (the latter until they killed her ultimate). I've played a whole 47 games of DotA2 making me some kind of expert (I like that my most denies is eight). I only queue with friends but we're still exposed to Russians calling me a bitch or people who leave as soon as it goes south, but it's still fun I guess. My biggest problem is in our group I'm always some kind of carry, so I basically have no idea how to support, mid or off-lane. Or carry. Quote
Skjalg Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) theres usually not any flaming in the games I play Also, mods are on the way! Edited January 5, 2014 by Skjalg AlexM 1 Quote

Taylor Posted January 6, 2014 Report Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Probably because I generated hundreds of hours "played" by slowly watching every worlds final and qualifier match while I worked :] I had some real shockers yesterday, but finally had another good game on Spectre and actually had a peaceful solo queue game as Lich (Outside of Lion getting annoyed I was kill stealing. Which I was). I don't watch League of Legends much any more but I caught bits of the LCS finale. I do notice that in competitive games 50% of the picks/bans will be from the last 10 or so released champions and everyone has at least 1, if not 2 or 3, mobility moves. But they finally cracked down on mobility creep by adding a guy who can dash every half a second and jump full screen to anyone airborne. Hurrah. Edited January 6, 2014 by Taylor Quote
