I think with Minecraft you need to think of a project to work on: water lift, house, castle, mine cart system, dungeon raids, etc. If you've no real objective in mind it'll be really boring real quick. I really liked the last update because I'm using a netherportal hidden in my house (though not very well because is constantly screams) that leads to a set of stairs and another netherportal that pops out on the floating death island. Well, that's the goal anyway; I've purposely only installed this at work so I can only do 1-2 hours a day.

My problem with Minecraft is that the world feels lifeless and secure. Sure, there are some moronic zombies at night but they are only a problem during the first night really.

I really wish the game had random events and encounters, such as changes in weather, merchants passing by or natural disasters a-la Sim City. It would rule to see a tornado coming in the distance and destroying your lil realm while you sit back and enjoy the beauty of the scene :derp:

I once again cite Animal Crossing as an example of what I mean. That game rules so much because of the random events that make each game feel unique. It owns to start the game in the morning and see that everyone in your village is a little depressed because the weather is rainy or meet some random NPC who's passing by that day.

Sounds like you need to explore more. You won't find a wandering merchant or a tornado, but you will find massive procedurally generated caves full of danger, different environments thanks to biomes, and the resources to mount an expedition into the Nether, a hell dimension that lets you, at risk, fast travel at an 8:1 ratio by traveling across it and then constructing an exit gate back to the real world.

The biomes didn't do much to me because they don't change the gameplay much. The joy of finding massive caves soon wears out when you start your 3rd or 4th world too.

I had some fun with the multiplayer but it's barely playable at this moment. A shame really but acceptable because the game is still in alpha stage.

I can't wait to find some mods that subvert the games' rules and create interesting situations though!

There’s a lot of places Notch could expand the game, but like you say it is still alpha. It would definitely be nice to add a few more enemy types with unique loot for clothing/weapons and tie them into the biome. May as well throw a little Monster Hunter addiction in there to go with the rest of the addiction, eh?

I'm really enjoying the halloween update. I think I'm set for content until Notch updates again, I'm not exactly pining for more stuff. Right now I'm trying to conquer the Nether.

(the game's on peaceful, I'll build a glass wall around the trees before turning monsters back on :P)

GUWANGE.

Not Cave's best, but for 800MSP it's a steal. Also comes with a "arrange mode" where you get dual stick controls and don't have to try. Awesome.

Can't really recommend it to norms though, shikigami mechanic counter-intuitive at first and if you credit-feed instead of learning it you're going to spend 90% of the last two stages dead. Oh well, hopefully Capcom will let them release Progear soon.

Two Worlds 2

This is gonna be the sleeper hit of the year. Mark my words. Must buy for RPG freaks.

yeah i vaguely remember there was a game called two worlds, but i always put it off as trash (given there hadn't been anyone praising it)

I had never even heard of it until two days ago. And apparently the first one was complete trash but the second one is much improved. It gets a lot of ratings around 90% and so far my impressions are that this is for a reason.

just finished "enslaved" earlier today

+lovely graphics all around

+best COLORS in a video game in a Long time !

+main characters are like able and well written / acted

+plot is far above average for video game standards !

+puzzles are all pretty formula but still well designed and fun to solve

+best eye and skin shader in the business ^^

-climbing (which you do alot) is a none event you just hammer the jump button to go down a linear chain of animations.

-combat although looking spectacular and feelign intesne is plagued by a camera that instead of zooming out to give you a better over view zooms more and more in to show you less of whats is going on and has a magic ability to spin around and point at nothing in critical moments.

-that third character was completely uncalled for !

-a bit too much Andy Serkis ! i love the man but he should have stuck to just voice acting all the life action footage of him was a total style break.

all in all: play if you like: ico, beyond good and evil, prince of persia, god of war, jak and daxter darksiders.

Demo was embarassing as far gameplay goes, both combat and platforming. I rarely shit on a game from a demo but goddam.

This game has the most annoying dialogue and voice actors in the history of history. I'm very close to calling it quits, but I shall perceiver!

Replaying Metro 2033 for the second time, I enjoyed it on the first playthrough but I found it tough at times so I played on easy this time and though it's still challenging it's a lot less hastle and I'm really enjoying a lot more. It's such a beautiful game as well, the art direction is fantastic and the engine really brings the game to life... can't wait for the sequel!
