Steppenwolf Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 I was playing Morrowind like crazy for a while. Fucking epic game. Motivation holds a lot longer then for Oblivion thanks to better balancing. But still eventualy my character became so good that the game even on highest difficulty was no challenge anymore. I even decided to leave behind all my armor, weapons and wealth at some point to get a challenge. But to reach that point i spent well over 100 hours in the game i would estimate and had a lot of fun on the way. Since last friday i play Civ 5. I'm a vet since Civ 1 so it feels a bit dumbed down to me in some places but it's still a pretty good game and with decent mods it will be great. Quote
D3ads Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 Silent Hill Homecoming on PS3. Without a doubt probably the hardest and most frustrating game I've ever played and I'm playing on normal mode (why isn't there an easy option?) The combat system is fucking shit, 80% of the time the dodge button doesn't work and you get hit, this is especially retarded when you're knocked to the ground and you want to get up quickly. Enemies appear in plenty of waves, but the ammo and health count is very low and I've found myself stuck with melee weapons and 20% health when battling four needlers and a fucking Siam! Somehow I survived and all I got was one single box of bullets... ridiculous. The environments are just as dire as anything I've seen in the screenshots and videos, the lighting and shadows effects are nice but textures are bland and rooms look empty and devoid of any personality, especially in the hotel where everything looks purple, SH2/3 look miles better than this and they're about 10 years old. I'm now at Scarlet boss fight and I can't get past her, because of aforementioned shit with the melee fighting system and not being able to dodge. I really can't be arsed to attempt to fight her for the 20th time... Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 I found it insultingly easy on PC, except for the difficulty getting control changes to stick (they'd show as changed but act as default if you closed the game and relaunched it, ugh), but I didn't play all that far. Got bored wandering the cemetery. Quote
D3ads Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 I can't imagine how it is easier on PC, I would have thought it would be harder getting such precision. I have a copy of the game on PC but it's the US version which is full of bugs such as sound vanishing, choppy cutscenes and general unplayable code.. dunno how it was allowed to be released like that. Oh yeah what the fuck is up with the psycho nurses in the hotel and beyond? They were easy to kill before but now they've got some frantic stabbing attack whereby you can't dodge or move away and so they kill you and there's nothing you can do... :\ Quote
ElectroSheep Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 The hotel and the dark descent was probably the 2 best part of the game, it becomes crap after that. Quote
D3ads Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 Fuck's sake, I know what the problem is... I've got a game stopping bug whereby Scarlet doesn't transform into her second form! The bit with the button prompts and you press square to shove the crowbar into her back and then press X repeatedly to trigger the next scene (or mouse clicks and whatever it is on Xbox) where she changes... only it's infinately looping, and thus I keep doing it until I die... so that's why she's so hard! Steppenwolf Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Are you refering to Morrowind or Civ 5? I haven't found any decent civ 5 mods yet. Morrowind i played with a couple of mods, mostly cosmetic stuff. Quote
D3ads Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 Stop playing shit games and play amnesia the dark descent instead d3! It's on my to do list, but I need to finish Black Plague first... and Dead Space... and MGS4 and a load of others. Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 I just bought Duke3d off Gog (just last week I was determined to not patronize them anymore after the closing stunt >_>). I need to look up the latest in duke source ports. I don't know if eDuke is still The Thing or if there's something better that's come out since. Quote

Amnesia is important, you have to play it. Quote

Jetsetlemming Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 i'm blocked in amnesia, where you meet agrippa Going to pretend to be psychic and guess exactly where you're stuck: To the left of Agrippa there's some machinery noise coming through a hatch in the ceiling. Go investigate that. Quote
Mazy Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Finally playing Civ V on my new PC, easily contender for GOTY for me, almost a tie to knock RDR off its stick. It's seriously insanely fucking good, makes Civ IV look borderline embarrassing. Everything has just been streamlined to perfection, all the dull fat cut away or changed a bit, all while keeping all the great bits completely intact. Very impressive stuff across the board, and my fears of it running shitty even on my new machine were completely unfounded, runs amazing through and through. Totally worth buying a new computer for. Warby Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 just finished red dead redemption (finally) and i must say i think its quite overrated ! first of all production value/presentation(visual/audio)/tech wise this is THE STATE OF THE ART RIGHT NOW ! mindblowing stuff ! but the gameplay just didnt come together and neither did the plot (no matter how good the actual dialogue was written and acted) i just felt bored 80% of the time ! and than other 20 % of the time when i was shooting up stuff i felt like the game was playing itself stick with the gtas or infamous for fun openworld gameplay i say ! so 7/10 for me ( 7 stars for the tech ) i borrowed the game from a co worker and when i dropped the bomb on him that i was actually a bit dissapointed by the game he had this little gem ready for me: "i couldn't agree more i think its the most overated game ever made ... if i had the choice between playing through this once more or through kane and lynch2 ... id play kl2 " anyway my civ5 demo turns ran out ... so i cant wait for my retail copy to arrive ( hurry up play.com) !
