syver Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 I must say I thought battle.net would be better, considering the effort made to integrate it. I don't know if I'm just looking at the wrong places, but, some concerns; 1. I can't accept friend requests and see what people are playing when I am in-game (e.g. campaign "hub"). 2. I thought the achievements from WoW and SC2 would synchronize or something? I at least thought I would be able to see more information about people's characters through battle.net. Right now, battle.net doesn't seem to be more than a cross-game chat client. Maybe that's all it's supposed to be. 3. The chat window is cumbersome, even more when used in-game. oh, and yes; the game is nice. The campaign seems huge. I've heard it's about 16 hours? Here's an awesome easter egg. Quote
wacko Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Wow Achievements are not connected to Battle.net sadly :/ As for chat what about it don't you like ? Quote
Grinwhrl Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Just picked it up, looking forward to playing in 3.2.1 goodbye Quote
Skjalg Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Wow Achievements are not connected to Battle.net sadly :/ As for chat what about it don't you like ? lol I had to read that three times before I understood that you meant World of Warcraft achievements when you said "Wow". Quote
Grinwhrl Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Wow Achievements are not connected to Battle.net sadly :/ As for chat what about it don't you like ? I heard they would be when Caty ships, but maybe not? Quote
2d-chris Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Awesome game, played a bit of skirmish and SP lastnight. Still not sure I like the idea of units that can traverse cliffs, choke point defense was kinda fun in original starcraft. Still I'm going to play for another 20 hours before saying it's a bad thing Quote
dux Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Man, this is like the first game where hard IS ACTUALLY HARD. Quote
Mazy Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Just finished the campaign. Halfway through the campaign I switched to Normal, since I got tired of having to restart most missions twice because I got completely overrun. Problem was that Normal is way too easy for the most part, and Hard was a bit too hard for me. Anyway, the last mission definitely gave me a run for my money, even on Normal. Eventually I went for a shitload of Bunkers/Siege Tanks/Battlecruisers, and then had a small army of SCV's and Science Vessels repairing them, and then just kept reinforcing. Didn't even need the nova blast at that point, nothing really got through. Was definitely the most intense mission up to that point, except for maybe the last of ZeraTul's missions. I heard a lot of people being somewhat disappointed with the ending, and although I wasn't exactly ecstatic about it, then I guess it was nice with things going in Raynor's favor for once Definitely going to replay the campaign on Hard all the way through once I get a new machine, some missions also made it a pain to play on hard since things started requiring so many units that it slowed everything down enough to make things just a tad harder to react on. But great game overall, love the entire atmosphere it has. Impressive amounts of variation in their mission objectives, really addictive credit/reward system, great music (Love the jukebox!), some great voice acting (BTW, Matt Horner is voiced by Brian Bloom, does Kane in K&L. Actually took me a bit outta the game tho). Brilliant cutscenes, and probably a beautiful game if you got a proper machine . Now I'm gonna start trying out the MP. Already prepared to be completely and utterly humiliated. Quote
Zyn Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 @Mazy: Get the Psi Disruptor from Zerg research and they won't be a problem anymore, on missions like the last. Lets your units rain down hell even longer before any zerg reaches you. Being awful as I am at online play, I'm reading up on the editor like what it can do etc, and god damn this is massive. Quote
Psy Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 I found some pretty amusing yet educational (for me ) videos about playing SC2. Quote
dux Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Just finished it and WOW. Amazing production, seriously I found myself wanting to complete missions just to see the beautiful cut scenes and voice acting, stellar stuff. I'm one of those people that thought that the ending was kinda MEH as well. Really was kinda anti climactic. Quote
Bunglo Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Just like Starcraft 1, I love this game. Just like Starcraft 1, I suck ass at this game!!! If you want some tips and hints for improvement, visit the SC2GG forums. They've got guides, build orders, and loads of other resources: http://sc2gg.com/forum/ Quote
2d-chris Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 just completed it! ending was great ... roll on expansions Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Has anyone else benchmarked the game and how it uses resources? The Ultra textures setting has a tooltip recommending 1GB of Vram but testing it showed a max of about 400MB used on my 512MB card, for example. Yes, this is an interesting topic. Quote
