EviLTaxi Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 it is a shame these things didnt appear in the final game! ..of ocurse, it's Valve's decission but there are some negative side effects: the last 10min of Hl² I really thought: "Wow, great! you'd think the end is near but there are still the ship level and the docks and the blue tentacle thing!! what a great game!!!!11~ " 10mins later I was kinda disappointed... Spellbinder Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Sounds crap to me But i still think HL is a great invention. You get craploads of mods, friends, and fun time for your money. As i said, write them and ask them to do a deleted files cd to be played ingame. Spellbinder. Quote
Core Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 They removed these areas because they didn't play well and replaced them with another 5 miles of boring Boat/Buggy driving. omg yes. I would rather have played a docks level than drive around for hours on end being bored off my ass. One vehicle level was enough, two was beating a dead horse. Quote
Mazy Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 ol wins damn that would've been sweet to have in hl1 Quote

Fletch Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 http://www.gamespot.com/features/6112889/index.html If you want a pretty good accounting of what happened between the E3 Tech Demo and the final release, read that article by Gamespot. It's pretty long, but gives you a good feeling about what it took to get the game out. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 as well as the friendly.mdl and kingpin.mdl! ur forgetting stukabat.mdl and that weird fish and the froggy Quote
Tequila Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 The boat was chopped because it was part of a completely alternate storyline, in which Gordon sails to C17, with the ship being beset by Combine forces during the trip. The docks was just a proof-of-concept, along with all the stuff you saw during E3 2003. The Gamespot 'Making Of HL2' article goes into much greater detail. Quote
Duff-e Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 almost all of those fucking bink movies that were released via steam didnt exist in the game. i hate valve ( i love valve). Quote
GrayFox Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 almost all of those fucking bink movies that were released via steam didnt exist in the game. i hate valve ( i love valve). I think that was a good thing. Almost everything you saw was new. Quote
