Corwin Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 So, anybody willing to playtest this thing? I'll have a prototype ready within a week, top. Quote
e-freak Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Yes! (and i can play crysis on High settings now, so no "that texture flickers" comments ) Quote
Corwin Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 Thanks guys, I'll send you the link when it's up! Yes! (and i can play crysis on High settings now, so no "that texture flickers" comments ) Heh, it was actually a very much valid comment, it was caused by all the buildings from the temple being a single model, so it was hit by too many lightsources for the medium settings to handle. I divided the thing into about 20 models and it worked fine afterwards. Quote
e-freak Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 at the time you released it public I bought a new computer, so I never saw the bug again, but it's good to see you found the source of it! Quote
Corwin Posted July 3, 2010 Author Report Posted July 3, 2010 Sorry guys, I'll have to delay the playtest for about a month, cause I've been contracted for that period and I haven't got the time to prepare it for you to test. I hope you don't mind Quote
ElectroSheep Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 My computer is dying so... no problem Quote
Corwin Posted September 14, 2010 Author Report Posted September 14, 2010 So, I've finally managed to settle down and work on this project. I've got the test prototype almost ready, just needs to put it into an installer and check if it works. 3dnj & e-freak, you guys still up to test this? Anybody else willing to give it a go? It's quite short so it shouldn't take an hour to go through it. Quote
ElectroSheep Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Of course dude Just need to update Crysis. Quote
Corwin Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 Sweet, I'll send you a link asap! Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 I'd be quite happy to give this a play through for you. Will have to dust off my copy of Crysis first though. Quote
michi.be Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 I really like how the vegetation looks. Never imagined that people will do such great stuff with my poor and crappy tree packs. Maybe you want to use a blurred light projector on the lamp screenshot. The shadows are very sharp and it ruins the scene a bit. But maybe you changed it Didnt read the whole thread. Quote

Thanks, your vegetation packs were a big help indeed, couldn't have done it without them! About the shadows, it's a tricky bit. You'll notice if you look intently that the light doesn't actually come from above but from around the middle of the cave, thus the light on the bottom of the rails and stuff like that. In my experience, projectors can only work with spotlights pointing in a particular direction, not affect the look an omni light entity, so to be able to use the projector (and unless there's some trick to get it working in all directions, cause the tickbox "ProjectInAllDirs" doesn't change a thing), I'd have to go back to the normal position for the light, coming from the top, and I think I prefer the one in place even though it's a trick and pretty unrealistic. Here's what it looks like now: Here's what it'd look like with a projector from above instead of the middle-height light source: What do you think? Quote
Serenius Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 Think he's talking about this shot, Corwin. Quote
