Psy Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 ":1fdi4om4]Yep, pretty much. For some reason, I really dislike the idea of being stuck with a telephone company and having to pay a pretty big sum amount of money every month. I like to pay for the phone (equipment) entirly, and then I just refill my phone as I see fit or when I run outta money on it. Me too except the iPhone is priced ridiculously if you want one with no contract. Quote
Thrik Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Yeah it's like £500 here for one without contract, and then by the time you've bought all the credit you need over like a year or so it's come to like £900, which is about the same as it costs to just get a contract with unlimited web browsing, etc. It's easier for me to pay in smaller instalments though so I tend to go for contracts. The HTC Evo is looking quite appealing I have to say. Quote

Ginger Lord Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Can't see myself getting an iPhone, other phones do what it does better/cheaper/easier. I've just got a vodafone SIM card, £15/mo for 600mins/Unlimited texts on a 1mo rolling contract. Just buy whatever phone I need and use it in it. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 i thought i could pre order tomorrow but then realized i have to wait til tuesday. i think im going to stop into at&t tomorrow anyway so i can be clear on how much it'll cost me due to the fact that my contract is only 10 months old Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 ugh i went to att on monday to confirm how it is to be done and what it'll cost. monday morning i wake up real early to try to do it online, it doesnt work. i go to att at 10 am to pre order one and i cant because i lost my license. on lunch break i get a new temporary license and go back. this time they tell me i can't use a debit card and i dont have a credit card. grrrrrr Quote
skdr Posted June 16, 2010 Author Report Posted June 16, 2010 Still no preorder options in Finland :'( Quote
skdr Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 What do you guys think about the antenna "problems" in iPhone 4? Quote
Thrik Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 Well I've been using it for about a week now and I've not really had any significant signal issues. The signal does drop a bar or two when the bottom left corner is completely covered, but I realistically never hold my phone in that way and it's a trivial thing to avoid. I think the phone is otherwise superb in every way. It's my first iPhone and the first one I've ever felt truly ticks every box you could want from a smartphone. If nothing else bus journeys are so much better being able to check emails, read MapCore, etc. The touch-to-focus feature on the camera is particularly nifty. Would be nice to see that appear on more cameras/phones. Quote

I bet you're right handed right? I'm glad you chose iPhone. I've been rocking with my iPhone since the launch of the device and now recently I lost it in a taxi when I was in Athens, Greece. Good timing since the new model is coming out this month here in Finland and it's quite a leap from the first original version. Quote
Mazy Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 It does sound like the bulk of the antenna issues come from American's in areas with extremely poor reception. I'll admit that its definitely made me a tad less thrilled about it, since it does add a bit of worry whether I'll have any problems with it, being a lefty. Anyway, I really need a new phone, my old 3G is running like crap with the latest iOS 4.0 update, and there's also just a bunch of hardware things that have started nagging me about it. Some of the Android based phones do look quite spiffy, but I'm so used to the iPhone already, and I honestly am not missing more open source based freedom in it. Besides, if it's really an issue with the antenna then I could get one of these: http://www.elementcase.com/iphone4.html Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 so i got mine in the mail the other day. it's pretty tits. however, i do't have a case for it yet so i dug around and i've been using my recession case: http://www.case-mate.com/iPhone-3G-Case ... n-case.asp i bought tht for a dollar shipped last year because i thought it was funny and had it on my 3gs for a minute. so now i'm walking around with a 500 dollar phone in the most ghetto case ever. i've gotten plenty of laughs. i'm waiting for otter to start selling their 4 cases im toally pleased wit how itunes dealt with the phone, i selected restore from previous phone and EVERYTHING was transferred over. when i opened safari all the tabs i had open on my 3gs the last time i synched it were even there. to be hones i never much needed multitasking, its nice that i can use pandora while doing stuff but id rather just listen to my own music. i actually find it kind of annoying that everything i open runs in the background until i turn them off, though i didn't notice any performance loss with like 10 things open.
