I present you with two awesome references Russia/Soviet related. The first is actually a blog from a guy who lives in Kazakhstan in the city of Atmaty, he documents all sorts of information about the various sights and structures around the city which are very heavily Soviet or post Soviet in design. You'll learn all about those diamond shaped concrete fences, balconies, bus stops, door bells, junction boxes and loads of other stuff with lots of photo examples. Very useful for anyone who's designing something from the Eastern Bloc.
