twiz Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 http://games.adultswim.com/small-worlds ... -game.html Found the art and music to be very interesting. Not breaking any molds as far as gameplay goes, but I think it's worth a play thru! Quote
e-freak Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 awesome! really loved it... nothing gameplay breaking but to see a kind of story/atmosphere being told by so little and simplistic graphics and music is genius. Quote
Gloglebag Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Music along with the revelation of each world is great. Quote
PogoP Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Played this a while ago, very atmospheric! I love these kind of games. Why do they never apply such immersion to mainstream games? Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Yup it's awesome, exploration is such an important thing in games imo, its overlooked way too much with all the linear games out there Quote
Sentura Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 Played this a while ago, very atmospheric! I love these kind of games. Why do they never apply such immersion to mainstream games? well i didn't get immersed in it, or at least not in the degree i have been in games in the past. i think the problem lies in that not every game is immersible for everyone. it was no doubt a good show of art, but at the same time i could see the gameplay get tedious over time. i think the best games are those that manage to blend exploration, atmosphere, fighting and puzzles in equal amounts. Maybe immersion wasn't the word I meant. I meant... There's a definite atmosphere when you're playing the game, and it just 'feels' right. Hard to explain. It just seems to flow really well. Quote
AlexM Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 There is definitely atmosphere, it's pretty cool but it still doesn't quite do it for me. I have some issues with the continuous camera scale-out methodology. It's nice but it's no RUA Quote
Buddy Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 This reminds me of Q1 somehow Really enjoyed it despite of the gameplay blandness though Quote

SENTURA DISLIKES ANOTHER GAME. SHOCKING NEWS STAY TUNED FOR MORE AFTER THE BREAK! Quote
twiz Posted May 24, 2010 Author Report Posted May 24, 2010 I have some issues with the continuous camera scale-out methodology. I liked the scale-out methodology, it added another layer to the exploration. With the pixelated graphics, as it zooms out the scene becomes sharper and more detailed. Thought it was an interesting approach. Quote
