Mazy Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Since no one else has apparently started a thread on this, I will. New Christopher Nolan flick, looks pretty damn interesting and different (and epic!). Old trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zfMZaLoAsY New trailer (480p is the best quality there is right now it seems) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNz1edBioO0 Quote
Steppenwolf Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Interesting concept. Only thing i hate is to see DiCaprio casted again and again into roles that he looks too young for. Quote
Buddy Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Yeah he will once wish to look young so that he can cast young characters (that is when he hits his 70s and starts looking like 40yr old). Quote
FrieChamp Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Sounds like a fresh plot! Love the music too (good job Hans)! Quote
deceiver Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I'll gobble up anything that Christopher Nolan makes, love his films. Quote
Thrik Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Looks awesome although I'm not sure the newer trailer has made its story any less ambiguous for me. I personally think DiCaprio has been awesome in all his roles of the last decade, he's been in so many fantastic films I pretty much associate him with quality now. Plus he's a superb actor. Quote

-HP- Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I definitely don't hate him but I'm with stepp on this one, even on the blood diamond I thought he was too young for the role he was trying to portrait, the beard helps but it doesn't make miracles. still, great actor featured on great movies. Quote
⌐■_■ Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 great trailer (1st one) and I gotta say my respect for Leonardo has grown since the last 3 years. after seeing shutter island, I'm confident this will rock. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Interesting concept. Only thing i hate is to see DiCaprio casted again and again into roles that he looks too young for. Not just one, but three actors that look far to young for their roles. Although I would take Leo over these two. Quote
Steppenwolf Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I used to hate DiCaprio. He earned a lot of respect from me after i saw him in The Aviator (THE role where he really showed that he can act and not just be a hysterical pretty boy in front of a camera). So i like him a lot more now but i still think he's the wrong cast for most of his roles. Maybe when he's 50 or 60 he can pull off the roles perfectly that he plays now. He will look like 35-40 then. Mazy Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 I do agree that DiCaprio has had the same "issue" that Matt Damon has somewhat struggled with, having kind of boy'ish babyface appeal even if they were way into their 30's. However I think they've both matured and lost it somewhat, or at least I don't think of a grown up boy in an adult role when I see them in movies anymore. But regardless then he's a great actor and one that is consistently picking great roles at the moment. Quote
twiz Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Looks interesting. I like DiCaprio. Dislike Nolan after that utter garbage Dark Knight. I'd be curious to see how this turns out. The music is already giving it a Dark Knight feel, not to mention I spotted a few members of that cast in the previews! And some ooh-ahh special effects, which all either seemed shoehorned in at the expense of the plot or used as distractions from gigantic plot holes in Dark Knight. I liked Christian Bale before Dark Knight too, though, I hope this one doesn't ruin DiCaprio for me. Nolan made Bale into Growly McBroodypants in D.K., it'll take a while before I can take Bale seriously again. edit: sorry, I'm still sore about DK. He did well with Begins. Quote
Warby Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 if you know me in person you might have heard me say stuff like "the prestige is the best movie of this millenium so far" and stuff ^^ nolan is currently my favorite director ( having replaced fincher after delivering to mediocre flicks) so yeah his last "inbetweenbatmansiwanttodosomethigniaminterestedin"-flick struck all the right chords with me so i am having high hopes for this one !
