Grinwhrl Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 This was after the e vac of times during the Car Bomb defuse on Saturday. Was fun watching people getting kicked out of there plays, movies and hotels. A block away during Evacuation. Overall, NYC was a great trip! Many crazy stories to tell, and most exciting I am now engaged to my lovely fiancée Mira. Quote
deceiver Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Ohh, congrats! Where did you pop the question? What camera did you use for the pics? Pretty sharp. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 Thanks deceiver, Popped the question at the Empire State Building. It went really well, will never forget it. I did it inside the glass room with the cool lighting at night at the top and as I put on her ring everyone outside the glass clapped and took pictures of us for like 15 minutes lol, so it felt really special and what not. The camera is Nikon D90 Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 i was in nyc for the night and walked from penn station to 52nd street, i figured when i got to times square they were doing one of those things where they shut streets down so people can walk around. i just thought it was odd that they wouldn't let people walk between 43rd and 45th and just went around the 6th ave. i found out the next morning that i would have walked right past the car 1/2 hour after they found it smoking Quote

I'm so glad it didn't explode though, that really would have sucked balls. Quote
Duff-e Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I'm gonna be an insensitive asshole and suggest the bomb (based on the NYTimes description) wasn't worthy of Times Square. Years of NYC high terror alert porn and "what if" scenarios and the best they can do is a couple drums of gas and some fertilizer on a side street. I guess you can't expect much when your terrorist is based in Connecticut. The patrols of soldiers with mp5's and m4's around grand central are cool though. edit: congrats Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 you guys should have gone to the sublime concert at roseland ballroom! Quote
Mazy Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Grats on the engagement Dark! Did you go to the Rockefeller Center? View is waaay better from up there, altho I guess it's somewhat more iconic to propose at the ESB . And yeah, thankfully that bomb seems kinda pathetic from what I've heard so far. Quote
-HP- Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Congrats bro! Oh and thanks for the references! Quote

I prefer Empire, but they are both great places to go. description of the bomb; "contained three propane tanks, fireworks, two full 19-litre gasoline containers and two clocks with batteries, electrical wire and other components from the vehicle."
