Evert Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Early, but it looks ok. Keep working. Quote
MagicTMP Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 atm, the building looks rushed. add detail later. change up the architecture and such. nice use of model props but thats already been mentioned. dont let em take up your whole map. yea... maybe you shoulda waited a bit until after you got past maybe 20%... 5% is a little bit too low. Taylor Swift Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 Well.. I'm done with some things. More houses added to the map and some new changes to environment. Some of the Apartments has changed the style and some textures was replaced to some better. All i got to do now is go and sleep after 4 hours extremly hard work. Quote
kleinluka Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Looks pretty cool dude. It kinda reminds me of Prague a bit with the run down playground and the blockhouses around etc.. I'd give it a bit more of a fucked up and rotten look though by adding some more random junk and broken stuff to the map. I'd also try and not make roads and pathes that are just blocks with textures on them... try adding some sort of transition between one surface and an other... for the roads for example add some curbs to the sides which can maybe be crumpled and cracked, put some holes in the road etc.. Oh yeah, also change the sky. The sunset one doesnt really help the atmosphere with the setting of your map. Nice work, keep going !!! And ferret, I don't know what world you live in, but static props are pretty common these days. Quote
Rubbish Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 are all those buildings models or proper brushwork ? looks fairly like a hospital i have to say. anything else besides the two buildings ? Quote
Crackerjack Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Okay there are only 2 things i dont like about this map. 1. The terrain is unrealistic, the grass is way to flat make it looka hell of alot nice. And that little brick cobble path throught the grass is a displacment you should paint the alpha and actually make it look like their blended together, giving the effect that the grass is starting to take over the path, which gives more of a "old path" feeling. 2. Is the lighting, i think its way to bland, have more spot lights, more spot lights comming for the street lights and maybe some lights glowing around the tress to give it that dark park feel. And have more lighting color, maybe some where on the building have red lights glowing of some sort, just give it mroe variance than the bland ligthing you have now. Other than that its looking pretty decent. Quote
Drakeee Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 looks nice, is it for the contest? Quote
Wedge Antilles Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 It looks very cool dude, but it's too open for a DM map, which isn't good for the gameplay. Maybe a de_ map ; ) Quote
von*ferret Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 And ferret, I don't know what world you live in, but static props are pretty common these days. I was commenting on how his picture is simply a screenshot of model props. Why not show us something that is truly interesting. That was my point. He has nothing to show but a large brush building. RD Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 get rid of the bloody props, put some thought into it. Bloody bloody hell Quote
ShaDoW Posted December 5, 2004 Report Posted December 5, 2004 Hey Nexus, You're an Half-Life Fallout'er eh? I can see it by your avatar. The map is looking decent, mainly by its size and overwhelming feeling. I would suggest playing around a bit with the environment lights and skybox, getting those right will be a good step in the right direction. Also, strip about 50% of those props. It looks too full as it is now. Good luck. Quote
Taylor Swift Posted December 5, 2004 Author Report Posted December 5, 2004 A big update to the map. I know this was fast but i think this is ok so far. Expect some more screenshots or Information next week or something. I wont delete the props, they rox. The Buildings The Carpark The Street The Rocks The Powerstation Quote
