Sentura Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 http://senseable.mit.edu/flyfire/ it sounds a bit like the helicopters may have a too high power usage, but other than that, this is phenomenal. although personally i think the research will go in a different way as soon as we figure out a way to simply color molecules or atoms at our disposal. Section_Ei8ht Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 I want to go to a demonstration of that, wait for them to have it do the Mona Lisa, and then take a leaf blower to it. Quote
Steppenwolf Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 Why do the objects have to fly? Seems like an overly complicated approach to me. Wouldn't it be much easier to achive the effect with some sort of transparent matrix? Kinda like LED matrixes that already exist but with miniaturized light sources (to make them "invisible" when not turned on) and much higher resolution. Like this: Quote
Sentura Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 a matrix won't actually let you have a 3d surface, nor could you potentially walk through one Quote

Warby Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 a huge step in the wrong direction ... interaction with this will not just ruin the illusion but literally BREAK the hologram Quote
Sentura Posted March 15, 2010 Author Report Posted March 15, 2010 a huge step in the wrong direction ... interaction with this will not just ruin the illusion but literally BREAK the hologram well i did propose a better solution for when we discover all secrets of quantum entities, but for that i think this'll do.. ⌐■_■ Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 not too impressed with it tbh. it seems like a cumbersome way to create an illusion that's not too astounding... an original aproach, but not too practical imo. Quote
Sentura Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 nice, but it seems to be protected in a box/sphere? Quote
