Psy Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 Either Source will be run with a wrapper akin to WINE or Valve have created an OpenGL render path. Hmm. I'd rather have Linux support though I'm aware of how it would be next to impossible for Valve to offer support for all the possible Linux distros. Quote
skdr Posted March 8, 2010 Author Report Posted March 8, 2010 Now confirmed. Runs on OpenGL. Cross-platform gaming. If you own a Valve game on PC, you'll get the mac license for free a'la Blizzard style. http://www.macrumors.com/2010/03/08/val ... -in-april/ Quote
Ginger Lord Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Fuck yeah! Time to delete the windows partition on my iMac. Quote
Mazy Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 COME HERE VALVE SO I CAN GIVE YOU A BIG KISS! BEST. COMPANY. EVAHRRRRR!1 Quote
Psy Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Shit me. Valve had dropped something here that will go down in history as something incredibly substantial! I wonder if it would be possible to somehow run the OpenGL version of Source through Linux? Quote
Gloglebag Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Meh, rather have them focus on something important like finishing EP3. Quote
dux Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 It has always amused me how they said with episodic portions they would be able to release more frequently. Would this be down to them using old tech like everyone mentions? Quote
Defrag Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 Well, considering Half-Life was released in 1973 and Half-Life 2 came out in ~2004, they have released more frequently Quote
Pampers Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 at first Gabe said they were planning on releasing an episode every three months Quote
Duff-e Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 Now all I want to see is 1973 Gordon Freeman. Also in honor of steam here is a 7 year old thread about how much steam sucks. http://yarbroughs.org/2003/09/13/steam-sucks/ The comments are better than the post. Coincidentally this forum is almost exactly as old as steam. Quote
Mazy Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Even though it's a slightly tame video of Steam running on OSX, then I hunger so much for that I'll take it in any way I can http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKPxl5qdYhU And as a response to that! Quote
-HP- Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 OpenGL, really? Not that I give a rat's ass about Mac, but that's really really nice. Quote
