Oilcake Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Hey, everyone! I'm new to the forums, and fairly new to mapping, too. I've put hundreds of hours in over the last 8 months, though! This new map, Escape From Parkdale, was built for the World of Level Design 11-Day Winter Mapping Competition (which it won!) and is currently entered in the L4Dmaps.com Winter Mapping Contest. The map supports Scavenge and Survival modes. Some of the latest screenshots can be seen on my blog. Here's the poster as a teaser... Hope you all like it! Cheers! Quote
e-freak Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Three things: Screenshots Download Link No Bevel and Emboss, Outer Glow and the likes. Quote
Oilcake Posted February 13, 2010 Author Report Posted February 13, 2010 Yeah, I've been told by a bunch of people I should be posting some screens here, so there are a few below, following my comments! The download link is in the first post: it's available from the L4Dmaps.com page. Not sure what you meant by this "No Bevel and Emboss, Outer Glow and the likes.". Do you mean on the poster? I honestly don't see why not? Love to know why you say there shouldn't be any, though! Anyway, a few screens: Hope you all like 'em! Cheers! Quote
e-freak Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Those Screens look decent! Seems like solid work you've done there. The point about the Download Link is it should be huge and first thing you see (after the Screenshots) - you sell a product, so you should make it as availble as possible. On the BaE - When I asked around what I should teach at my Photoshop Tutorials, alot of professionals put it like that: "It's only a good use of filters and layer styles if you can't see it's a filter or layer style". You know there are some mappers who are not graphic designers right But I agree, Bevel and Emboss is best if u cannot tell its a filter. Outer glow can work wonders with certain setups though. Quote
Oilcake Posted February 17, 2010 Author Report Posted February 17, 2010 Thanks for the tips, guys! Quote
⌐■_■ Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 not a fan of the foliage you used but your lighting seems very very well done Quote
Oilcake Posted May 3, 2010 Author Report Posted May 3, 2010 Thanks!!! Yeah, the models are all stock Valve stuff (not that that's an excuse!). Learning to make my own is next on the list, after I'm a little more comfortable with custom textures... Cheers! Quote
