Duff-e
I don't really care for either of them. It seems like everyone is sacrificing usability for clever design. I have this fujitsu lifebook p1610: It's pretty awesome. 2.5 lbs, 8.9 screen. It's got all the inputs you could want gets over 10 hours of battery life. What bothers me is the direction companies have been going in lately. Everyone is coming out with proprietary hardware to do simple tasks, it seems pretty backwards. I mean it's so blatantly obvious that companies are doing this to keep control over their users that I can't see it ending well.
Sentura
I'd much rather have this: http://gizmodo.com/5365299/courier-firs ... ret-tablet ooh that looks like, i'm personally going for one of these: http://gizmodo.com/5346818/nokia-n900-m ... look-silly
Thrik
Yeah, I have to say Microsoft's product looks more appealing. I mean I personally wouldn't use anything like these things, but I can see the draw for people who regularly use netbooks. They're the kind of people who will be drawn to iPads and Courier rather than people who want to do any serious work.
Skjalg
Look guyz I maed this tablet. Its just like any old 5 year old tablet except its skinny and white. It will fit your needs np, since you are dumb ! that being said, I think this will sell pretty well. It has an apple logo on it after all and theres a lot of buzz about it. Thrik
I bet Amazon is pretty pissed off. This and the iBook store are going to cripple their Kindle.
Duff-e
Not to mention the barnes and noble Nook. I saw someone on the train with it yesterday it looks pretty cool. The ipad will probably be a success for people just looking for straight content delivery. The lack of flash is pretty insane though. I'm sure there will be some pretty innovative games and apps for people to play with now that devs have a bigger screen and more power to exploit. skdr
There's no flash in iPhone either, it eats alot of cpu power and even in laptops cause battery life problems. I can clearly see why they're not supporting it.
Thrik
Eh, so does playing a HD video — it's a choice people should be able to make if they want to make use of Flash content, which in my case would be defined as 'all the time'. I'm sure they'll say use of resources is the reason, but let's face it we all know it isn't. Apple is just locking stuff down like Apple does best. Duff-e
Not having flash on the iphone is inconvenient but in the end you deal with it because its primary function is as a phone. With the ipad, something that's supposed to be a media device, it kind of cripples some of the best of the best the web has to offer right now. I agree with thrik that there's more at play than it just being a resource/power hog (which I know about first hand because the shitty laptop I'm on right now shuts down from streaming anything flash for more than 5 minutes). As lame as it is I'd rather have the modbook at this point. Only thing you really miss out on is multi-touch/3g/form factor. The mod book has a stylus and expensive wacom tablet in its favor. http://www.axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook ($1650, ouch)
Section_Ei8ht
http://www.theonion.com/content/news_br ... s_stays_up Frantic Steve Jobs Stays Up All Night Designing Apple Tablet CUPERTINO, CA—Claiming that he completely forgot about the much-hyped electronic device until the last minute, a frantic Steve Jobs reportedly stayed up all night Tuesday in a desperate effort to design Apple's new tablet computer. "Come on, Steve, just think—think, dammit—you're running out of time," the exhausted CEO said as he glued nine separate iPhones to the back of a plastic cafeteria tray. "Okay, yeah, this will work. This will definitely work. Just need to write 'tablet' on this little strip of masking tape here and I'm golden. Oh, come on, you piece of shit! Just stick already!" Middle-of-the-night sources reported that Jobs then began work on double-spacing his Keynote presentation and increasing the font size to make it appear longer.
