Grin Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I'll prolly make an entry for that compo, my idea might just be a bit too hard for my scripting abilities. Quote
tnoh Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 What was the time limit on this? I did not spot any date there.. If there are months, I will propably try to make something by my self. Hmm.. or small team with 2 or 3 guys. Quote
Fletch Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Important: When you sign up, under the Group Name box, try to call it something like Mapcore: Team XXXXX or Mapcore: ZZZZZ Team . That way we'll have some stardardization. Try to make it unique. The team I just signed up is Mapcore: Team Kansas Quote
Thrik Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Look harder, slapper. January 15th. Quote
Duff-e Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 just one thing....please....PLEASE make the map PLAYABLE before you start with your fancy brushwork and amazing textures....last thing the gaming world needs is another de_torn/chateau/storm/yougetthepoint Quote
Grin Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Torn, Chateau & Storm are all good maps, Torn just has a problem with the other bombsite and storm is a bit ugly, but othervise those maps rock. Quote
Fletch Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 hey now, no more CS maps. We're DM mapping now. Screw serious locations and realism. It's fun time. You do remember "fun" don't you? Quote
Tequila Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I've already signed up on my own, no group name, but this was before I saw all the Mapcore stuff, so hopefully they'll be no problem in joining a group using my current SteamID. Quote
Crackerjack Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 After reading this i have gotten very excited and I would deff like to be in. If there are three teams, which i would suggest, I think we should follow certain themes from HL2, bringing the player back to the game and almost wanting to play it agian. Thats something i believe Valve will be looking for. Here are the three themes I thought of. 1) The Citadel (the area where you recieve the upgraded G-Gun) 2) A place similiar to trapville (the area with all the aliens and the priest with the shotgun) 3) Either the junkyard where "Dog" is or the opening train area. These three themes could be split up into the three teams, the teams then could work a decent layout involving all the things that are required to make an excellent DM map. In example: A difference in height through out the level, placement of weapons and power ups, every hall way leads to another (no dead ends). Im personally down for doing the citadel. I also agree with Friechamp in creating a temporary forum where we can post about this subject and get things organized. Please give me your thoughts on this. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 i'm prolly doing sth together with delaz and squad. Quote
-Stratesiz- Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Who wants to fewl around with meh?~ Quote
Fletch Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 I'm personally going for one of those maps that makes you go "WTF? Is this designer on acid?" If there is any association to HL2 the game it will be a loose one. The architectural stylings and setting will be my own. Quote
ShaDoW Posted December 1, 2004 Report Posted December 1, 2004 Who wants me in their team? Or anyone willing to team up with me? Quote
