ElectroSheep Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Some originality please ! Even if displacements are good :comeback: Quote
Skacky Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Well it's not THAT original, but I like the style of the map. It looks like a mix between fastlane and badwater. And I love the desert theme too. I will give it a try as soon as I get a decent computer with the Internets on it, but some telephone poles in your 3D skybox seem to be floating on one pic. Quote
Zeta Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 For a moment I thought the second screen shot was an updated version Quote
Skjalg Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Maybe you should try a different lighting to get the fastlane feel OUT of your map? Quote
dux Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 The centre piece in the first screen feels heavily inspired by fastlane's centre point, the textures, the lights, the style of the buildings as well. Just because you don't have a little bridge thing doesn't disqualify it from being extremely similar to fastlane. Even just changing the dirt displacements to christ I dunno grass or snow or something would make it more of a "your map". Quote

Even just changing the dirt displacements to christ I dunno grass or snow or something would make it more of a "your map". In Fastlane you can get on top of the middle building, here you cant. I did say that the textures that I have used on the buildings and the lighting makes it look like Fastlane but its not. The structure of the buildings is different. Who said just because I don't have a little bridge thing doesn't disqualify it from being extremely similar to fastlane? There are also other things different, like I said I above, Fastlane has a spawn where my brdige is and an entrance right next to it. Do you see any of those here? Also, where do you see the structure of the buildings "similar" to fastlane's ? We know it's NOT fastlane but LOOKS like fastlane. We are not talking about how it plays with "you can't go here when you can go there" or "you spawn here and not there". We are talking about it's striking resemblance to another map. Why not take the criticism everyone has pointed out to you by saying it looks like fastlane and change it's appearance? It wouldn't kill anyone. Quote
Rick_D Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 don't worry, some people are just shit at taking criticism. Quote
S.W.A.T.Y Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 Some gameplay changes. Added two spawn exits. Added more detail to mid and reworked the left entrance. Quote
Tydax Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Downloading. Looks really nice, I love your displacement work. That's not so original, but he's got a lot of models to use. Anyway, seems to be a bit empty in some places (first screen). But it's TF2. Quote
