marque_pierre Posted December 19, 2004 Author Report Posted December 19, 2004 Yeah. :x How do you do that? :-? Texture geniuses to the rescue! Quote
Pericolos0 Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 look at a tree irl, it doesnt have those straight edges. Atm it looks like a lowpoly sphere with holes :/ Quote
marque_pierre Posted December 19, 2004 Author Report Posted December 19, 2004 Hmmm. What it is, is roughly a low poly cone, with another smaller lower polygon cone inside it for another layer or foliage. Thanks for the comment Pericolos0 but I am still puzzled as to how to go about it differently... You mean giving the vertices a randomizing treatment. Ok sure. But my main issue is more with getting the top texture to mesh with the wrap around one, which I don't think they really do right now, unless seen from very specific angles. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 dont make the texture go over the vertices, you'll end up with ugly straight and flat parts. What i usually do is limit the texture to 1 plane, and make sure all the edges are transparant. My trees usually consist of a few hundred of those. like: Quote
marque_pierre Posted December 19, 2004 Author Report Posted December 19, 2004 Thanks Dangerous one. I think I got an idea now. Quote
von*ferret Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 looks beautiful periclois, however if you did some like splitting of the trunk I think you could get some nicer looking trees with some more variation ~ Quote
InsaneSingingBlender Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 modeling confuses me to the max Quote
hamst3r Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 modeling confuses me to the max right back at you :x anyway, pretty nice looking stuff Quote
marque_pierre Posted January 22, 2005 Author Report Posted January 22, 2005 Next installment. A shield to dress the set with; alluding to the inhabitants. C&C please. Quote
von*ferret Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 maybe toom uch of a highlight on the center of the shield. Very beautiful though. Great texture and realism in the scratches. Quote
kleinluka Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Very cool dude. I like the style you got going there. Quote
Zacker Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Quite a bunch of nice models&textures following the same style. Good job! Unless you are planning to use them for real-time rendering you might want to use more polys. Quote
marque_pierre Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Posted January 25, 2005 Miniscule update. At this stage I am putting together all the things, while making new objects as I go along. So here is 4 different colour variations on the same water lily template. Excuse the water. Quote
JynxDaddy Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Really nice work, I would love to see a whole forest done and a video produced ;) Quote
marque_pierre Posted January 25, 2005 Author Report Posted January 25, 2005 It is coming. It is coming! Quote
