marque_pierre Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Another school project: This is a cartoony enchanted forest/jungle thing. Just a poor excuse to a lot of 2D painting with greens, blues, purples and yellows. Modelling/shape style should be something along the lines of Tim Burton meets Bob Rafei (Naughty Dog). Texturing style should be a mix of your recent Warcraft work and Eni Oken. Sort of. Of course you learn as you go, and the style also seems to grow and change slightly, or rather focus itself the more you work with it. C&C is the name of the game, so let it rip! Quote
marque_pierre Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 Here is a quick concept piece for one of the palm trees. And modelled and rendered with another style of palm tree: Quote
marque_pierre Posted November 28, 2004 Author Report Posted November 28, 2004 Here is some grass meant to be mapped on almost vertical planes. Texture: Rendered out: C&C please! Quote
marque_pierre Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 Not sure it is gonna make a map as such. This project is around one third of the ground work I need to carry out some research/theories on colour theory and psychology in level design. But that is another story for another day... Quote
kleinluka Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 i love it great style great idea. Watch out for FrieChamp headhunting you for Monkey Strike 2. Quote

spine Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 That some nice work there Marque! The grass is extremly fluorecent though, but that might be intended. And the twist or sharp bend in the plamtree looks unnatural and is not to pleasing to my eye, but it might just be me... Quote
marque_pierre Posted November 29, 2004 Author Report Posted November 29, 2004 And the twist or sharp bend in the plamtree looks unnatural and is not to pleasing to my eye, but it might just be me... Dammit. So my teacher WAS right. It is not just you... :x Quote
ginsengavenger Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 the UV stretching is worse imo :/ i don't mind the bend provided EVERY tree in the scene doesn't look like that. i'm not a fan of the grass at all i'm afraid. i really like the style of the tree and that other plant though, the fronds particularly look cool. try to reduce their intersecting. spine Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 LOL Teacher's are allways right... Quote
FrieChamp Posted November 30, 2004 Report Posted November 30, 2004 Not only that you make cartoony jungle stuff, now also the next Crytek project has been reveiled D:!!! Naa looking cool, I like it. I agree with spine (and your teacher) though, anyway keep it up! Quote
