Mazy Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I'm pretty sure it was actually announced 2 years ago, but now its formally announced I suppose, so here it is. Anyway, I'm working on it, plus both Warby and Zacker worked on it. http://kaneandlynch.com/ Quote
ReNo Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Was really glad to see them going through with the sequel, as I actually really enjoyed the first game despite its flaws. I hope this version corrects some of the niggles in the last game, particularly the basic "feel" of the aiming and shooting, which I was never happy with until I heavily tweaked all the sensitivity options. I guess at least there WERE all those options that you could tweak, but I'm happy to just accept the defaults in most shooters. Doing so in K&L left it feeling very odd I felt. Quote
D3ads Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I never played the first game because I didn't have a good enough system when it came out... now I do.. lol. Recommended? Quote
ReNo Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 It's a good coop game, but I don't imagine it retains all its charm in single player. Some very cool and memorable levels and scenarios though. I certainly didn't regret my purchase - my buddy and I enjoyed it very much. Quote
Rick_D Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 I bought it on PC, and when that was unplayable on release (crashed after loading the first mission), I bought it on the 360. Never got into the MP, and only played up to the bulldozer mission which was a trainwreck due to the hitboxes for that driver, and playing with a controller and requiring such precise aiming was hard as fuck; I got stuck in a checkpoint-death loop and after about 20 tries on multiple days I just said "fuck it" and gave up. I really wanted to like the game, I loved the premise but I think it lost it's way pretty early on, I loved the shootout and escape scene, but once I hit the tutorial mission I was getting a bad vibe - then the bank robbery whch had so much potential but seemed to be executed so badly (I would have loved to have entered the bank and interacted, even in a limited way, with the surroundings, in the way GTA4 did it really), it started to turn me off it. And that park mission after the nightclub - oh god that was a nightmare. I am only being so harsh on it because i really wanted to like it, I bought it twice for fucks sake I remember one of the IOI guys saying the development was a little "haywire" and that another 6 or even 12 months would have saved the game. So I would love to hear how it's going this time around? I really digged the marketing video that was released (naked men and a dog/pig or whatever), but it doesn't really hint at the game much. You guys more confident about this one? Quote
madgernader Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 only played up to the bulldozer mission which was a trainwreck due to the hitboxes for that driver Same happened to me, bought it on PS3 and was really digging it, until that level. Quote

I wanted so bad to like the game, but so many things were just terribly executed (dated graphics, choppy animation, bugs/glitches galore, no facial expressions, and a horrible cover system). I'm very iffy on the idea of a sequel. If it turns out to be excellent, I might just plow through the first one just for the sake of the story. Quote
Mazy Posted November 19, 2009 Author Report Posted November 19, 2009 I hear ya Rick, the first one was a messy game in so many ways. Sadly I'm not really in a position where I can talk about KL2, don't wanna say something that gets picked up by Google news alert and ends up causing problems. I'd love to talk all I want about it in great detail, but you guys know how it is with this kinda stuff. Soon though Oh and thanks Reno, its always nice to hear people that actually liked the first game. Its funny though, this time around, every time something from KL2 is posted on one of the larger gaming blogs, a lot of people come outta the woods and say how they had a real good time with the game. I remember asking Mazy on MSN how to kill that dude, because I thought I was doing it wrong. Quote
Mazy Posted November 19, 2009 Author Report Posted November 19, 2009 There's obviously something about it since so many people had trouble with it, but I once retried the mission 5 times in a row and got through it every single time. But I also knew what to do, I guess it was all in the lack of feedback from doing it right that turned people's heads. Quote
Rick_D Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Didn't you have to hit him multiple times? That could have been the issue for me, either that or I was so bad with the sticks. Quote
channie Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Hitman please I guess the K&L2 announcement means we won't get a new Hitman before 2011 Quote

Warby Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 i am surprised (and find it funny) how many people out themselves as secret kane and lynch fans these days ^^ to which i have to say that when i got to io kane and lynch was pretty much done the only thing i contributed to the retail disc was i fixed a collision model for a stair in mazys cuba level. ( and also only really because i used the same stair in my multiplayer dlc test map ^^ ) so i feel like i can talk about the game from a consumer/player/fan perspective rather than as the developer and i have to say that i think KANE AND LYNCH IS FUCKING AWESOME ! the character and story and the whole theme strikes a special nerve with me ... i dont know why ! id even go so far and call kane and lynchs story and the way its being told as TOP10 best game story EVER material. cant say much about the second one for the same reason as mazy i don't want to get hunted down by some eidos/square-enix lawyer but id love to talk about it in depth. @the truck driver boss fight comments ... i did the truck driver thing on first try if i remember correctly ... and i had no idea if what i was doing would work or not ^^ cracking the glass and shooting the driver in the head seamed to me like the obvious thing to try first ... ) @ the hitman comments there are many teams at io you may have noticed that mini ninjas managed to get developed in parallel with kane and lynch 1 and 2 for example ^^ so why wouldn't that work for a hitman game ?!
