Steppenwolf
So i made a couple of detailsprites. Vmt settings and in vbsp are identical to valve games. Now when i compile the map the sprites are very strangely lit. Randomly some are very dark, close to black. Even in the bright areas of the map some sprites are considerably darker then some others of the same type right next to them. Anyone knows this problem and how to fix it? PhilipK
Odd... I don't know where they get their light info from. Would it make any difference to place any light info entities around? Read some on the wiki but couldn't find anything useful about how they are lit
Steppenwolf
Someone had the same problem here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=699843 But his solution doesnt help me at all since there are no conflicting vbsp files. robert.briscoe
had this in my mod when using detailshapes in vbsp. My coder couldnt figure it out so I ended up sticking to plain old detailsprites instead. You doing it for an OB mod? I think the vbsp or vrad supplied with the OB is a bit broken in this respect tbh.
Lord Ned
Are they 2d planes or 3d planes, or models? If their models: Is it one or two specific models that always shadow too dark? If so, the lighting origin is probably under ground.
Steppenwolf
They are sprites in tri and cross shapes. Possible that the engine is the reason (its the newest version i think). Maybe i can get a coder to fix it (its not for a mod).
alecmoody
I don't know much about source but.. Has anyone tried rotating one of the dark planes 180 degrees so the normal is facing the other way and then recompiling?
