Campaignjunkie Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I like those spiral pillar things... But seriously, way too much sharpen in these screenshots, and it'd be cool to credit the original author of those textures, Sock (http://www.simonoc.com/pages/materials/ ... /index.htm) Quote
PhilipK Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 nice to see some hl1 stuff again looking cool Quote
Trempler Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 thx, yeah Campaignjunkie my settings for "finish" the screenz went wrong. Anyway good to know where the textures from, i used the sc_egpyt.wad from ?simbl? and he downloaded the textures from the wadfather, and the wadfather is offline so i had no idea who created the textures. Thx for finding that. I will credit him ofc Quote
aaron_da_killa Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Looks great, nice level design and custom content! Quote

deceiver Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Little scene I'm working on in UDK for a contract! It's my first scene ever in UDK, so, any tips or feedback would be great. Still the plane left to texture, and then doing the final lighting (to add contrast in the jungle especially) and post-processing tweaks at the end. Oh and should I be doing something special for my grass? The dark shaded parts make it look kind of meh (they're currently placed with a deco layer). Quote
Evert Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Ooh pretty nice. A bit weird thing with the lighting, especially in the distance, it looks like it's overcast, though the sky is completely clear. Quote
Jenn0_Bing Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Nice looking scene. I'd agree about the lighting. I also think you need to match your colours between foreground scene and your background cards a bit better. Your models are a lot more yellow green than the foliage in the background. The background is also composed of more leafy plants than your palm trees, maybe you could get a couple of those in to cover some of the open floorspace you have right now. If you change the texture of the grass to the deeper green of the background it should also help blend in you grass sprites as they are closer to that deep green. Quote
deceiver Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Yeah, when I was looking at it before bed last night, that was was bothering me too, I'll tweak the color of the grass! And peris, do you think it might be the fog and its color I have going on? I've got some distance/heigt based fog + some slight DoF for the BG. Quote

That was Evert, not peris I think it looks pretty cool but the rocks look weird. I've never seen rocks like that in real life The colors overall are pretty good, I love the palm tree! Keep it up man! Haha, I always mistake the two cause of the little sun dude. Yeah, the rounded rock, I was a little too "fantaisiste" with that =/. The pointier ones though, I used this script: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scrip ... -generator Quote
Evert Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 this is peris speaking: Yeah, the fog most likely has to do with it, together with the very moody ambient lighting. Also, the sky looks darker than what the color suggests (of course IRL there can be a lot of stuff like clouds and other weird things (clouds sucks) behind the camera). Quote
