KungFuSquirrel Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 3dnj: I was never a fan of the Egypt set, but I really like what you've done with it here. Nice work! Falc: What terrain generator, if I may ask? Quote
Bunglo Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I think my biggest gripe with the Egypt levels is that they all look pretty much the same. Plus the color pallet basically consists of one color but the lighting setup you have for your level makes it stand out from the rest, 3dnj. New scene I started: Quote
jaboo224 Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Nice stairs and i love the damage on the pillars except that the damage is on the same horizontal line as the other pillar. Maybe if it was rotated or something it would look better. Quote
Bunglo Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 It's actually the same pillar instanced over as a temporary placeholder, here's the actual pillar model I'll be using: The railings for the steps are also the same at the moment as well but that'll change soon enough. Quote
ElectroSheep Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks, guys. i'm testing another light style, a lot of people found the first one too yellow. Quote
D3ads Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I absolutely love all things Ancient Egyptian and this is no exception.. top notch work! It's really cool to see such variety in TF2 maps Quote
Campaignjunkie Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Great colors. I don't like how 90 degree / straight-edged the bricks and blocks are, though. They're kind of jarring when compared to the cool obelisks and tombs you have going. Quote
AlexM Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 awesome 3dnj! I think I prefer the earlier more desert-like lighting though Quote
PhilipK Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Great colors. I don't like how 90 degree / straight-edged the bricks and blocks are, though. They're kind of jarring when compared to the cool obelisks and tombs you have going. Agreed, I think the new lighting looks great! I also think you could get some more out of the brick texture especially, could be enough to just add a couple of subtle brush strokes to get them a bit more unique and closer to the TF2 style. Same goes with the bare concrete. I think they lack some more low frequency details while the small details may be a bit too uniform and visible. Looking very promising so far, I look forward to see where you'll take this Quote
ElectroSheep Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Thanks guys, i'll do my best The problem with the first lighting is that was too yellow everywhere and for a symetrical koth I need to make each side différent. Quote
-HP- Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 And everyone did it before! That's why the new is better too. Quote
