PogoP Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Need some external feedback on this little environment I'm creating for one of my other modules at uni. I've been in UDK messing with it for hours now and there's something not quite right about it. This is just an atmospheric test at the moment, no proper environment assets have been made yet. Any feedback will be great! Edit - Argh it hasn't resized.. copy the image to your url bar to see the full image. Quote
Corwin Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 I find the mountains on the left of the screen a tad bright considering that there isn't sunlight coming from behind them. Otherwise, looks awesome! Quote
robert.briscoe Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 your fog needs to be much much darker, almost as dark as the sky around the sunset Quote
The Vulture Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 when is image scaling on these forums going to be fixed in IE?? You can make a low res image and make it link to a higher res pic, like I did in the last post of the previous page. I would hope everyone could use that method. You don't get small ass thumbnails and the picture will remain within the forum format. And you get the higher res pic when you click it lower res one. Win-win. Quote
PogoP Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Cheers fellas! Here's a little update.. Slowly but surely getting there. We're not allowed to use terrain any more so I've had to convert it to a static mesh and make my own material setup. UDK material editor fun times ensued and I'm happy with the result. Makes me realise how much the ground texture sucked before! The only downside to not using terrain is that I'm going to have to handplace the foliage. Any tips on how to make this not lag my computer down to a standstill? UDK terrain foliage fades out, can I get a similar effect? Quote
luque Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Looking good, great improvement compared to the previous screen. You could try messing around with LOD models but not sure how well this is handled with foliage. Quote
Falc Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Nice one PogoP, loving that sunshafts! A Testlevel I did in 2 hours, using a terrain generator and a custom ToD. Quote
PogoP Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 That's awesome, I love the snow shader effect. Quote
