Nurb Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Reminds me of the cable car station in Vampire the masquerade. Looks nice, though the light could use some slight colorvariation indoors. Quote
Freak Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 @albatross: the third screenshot needs more contrast @the0rthopaedicsurgeon: nice job, the first screen looks like the cablecar station of a 007: nightfire map Quote
e-freak Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 I don't know what's supposed to be happening inside the building but if it's a safe-house (the checkpoints in L4D-Campaigns where you can close the doors, reammo and get new healthpacks) when you'd probably go well with some warmer lightings do indicate this or if it's supposed to be zombiefied all over I'd go for much more lightcontrast (shorter light-range -> darker corners in the room) + colder light. The outdoor rocks all the way (that skybox + the foggy feel to it seems to be a nice adventure place for zombie-survivors). Quote
the0rthopaedicsurgeon Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 the last safehouse before this part is a maintenance station halfway up the ropeway ride, a few minutes before you reach this part. i wanted a dusty sort of look to this place since everything from this point on is supposed to be long-abandoned and derelict, stranded on top of the mountain, and it's a complete change from the last section which was the temple complex full of bright colours. there's colourcorrection in all those screens, taken straight from another map in the campaign, so it's a bit more brown than it should be, but i agree about the lack of contrast indoors so i'll try and come up with something more interesting with the lighting. Pericolos0 Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 FUCK YES Thats Crysis right? Well this is going to be awesome, especially considering its not a jungle map! You should still have some weird vegetation or something in there, it could be neat Oh and that color fog isnt really cutting it for me, maybe more/less saturation? Its unreal3 =). The fog and lighting is something i will still be heavily playing with. The back story i have in my mind for this is its an abandoned city on a planet where terraforming went wrong, making the atmosphere think and poisonous, hence the fog. getting close to what will become the layout of my final scene now: 3 weeks left to finalize and detail this thing, finally the real fun can begin =) Quote
AlexM Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 if anyone remembers the cablecar station from my l4d map that i posted screens of months ago, i've almost finished making the one to go at the other end. This is the one at the top of the mountain that will lead to the derelict hotel/spa thing where the final showdown takes place. The lighting and colourcorrection are just temporary until I paste it into the rest of the map, and the winches for the ropes need to be modeled. I'm using a Japanese urbex site as reference for most of the campaign, here's the page for the place this part is based on: http://home.f01.itscom.net/spiral/chi/chi01.html I love the color/feel you have as a constant throughout the level. Very nice and consistent. Quote
Pericolos0 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Here's today's update: added some fences, more vegetation and some texture and geometry changes on the architecture. Quote
Minos Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Amazine! Love you textures! Sincerely, Quote
Freak Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 really nice till now, looking forward to see it finished! Quote
Psy Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I'm not too sure about the grass coming up through the concrete. Quote
Punky Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I'm not too sure about the grass coming up through the concrete. Yeah, I noticed the same, vegetation doesn't grow on crete/metal.... Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Rhuar peris you sexy beast, i love how you didn't made a straight boring railing Quote
aaron_da_killa Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Wow, Pericolos0, the0rthopaedicsurgeon really awesome stuff guys. Pericolos0 yours has a really cool futurity feel with the green gas and what not, it looks really intriguing. the0rthopaedicsurgeon, love the colour correction, the height variation and nice scenery would make an awesome place to fight in. Anyway, here is an image of a Volcano I'm working on for my map. The Volcano is a displacement placed in a 3D Skybox. Keep in mind, the map is night time, its raining and is foggy (making it harder to make this thing visible and look realistic ). What do you think? More information and screenshots of the map can be found here. Quote
