von*ferret Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Doesn't feel moody, just feels dark. Try to think of how colors can effect moods and build it from there. Use color, sound (lots of sound), and atmopsheric details to get mood. Like I said, it just looks dark to me. Quote
Oski Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Ill think about that and try do some changes. Thanks. Quote
Erratic Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 If you're going for the moody theme try and stray from the typical overhead lighting placement. Put lights wherever they look interesting. Quote
Belgarion Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 something I've been working on last night and tonight. gonna be a CTF map, though I'm not entirely sure about the layout yet. Something to think about while I sleep. The pics look almost pitchblack, but is hardly so in-game. save them to your desktop and view them in a slideshow. btw, I know about the red light fixture giving off blue light. I'm looking into making a custom skin. 1 2 3 Quote
Nysuatro Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Damn nice guy. I like that style. But how did you make that glass stuff in the middle ? Quote
Tequila Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Damn nice guy. I like that style. But how did you make that glass stuff in the middle ? It's simply the Combine glass texture. It does the transparency for you. Quote
insta Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 That looks pretty keen, Belgarion. I'm working on something quite similar, but it's far from screenshot worthy so far. Quote
Captain P Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Just some alpha shots from the map I'm currently working on, Vector-Y. It's my entry for the Snarkpit competition. It's a factory-themed, twisted level, where several parts of the level are rotated so you'll be walking on walls and support beams and such. Quote
rockdude86 Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 small castle env im working on right now Quote
ReNo Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Try working in some wooden supports or something rockdude, its too relentlessly "bricky" just now. Nice start though CP, my comments from snarkpit still apply Quote
JynxDaddy Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 I really like the lighting (or that texture) there Rock dude. Quote
RD Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 rockdude and cap P, both look very nice aesthetically Quote
insta Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 rockdude, that looks sweet. Good to see some custom textures in use. It reminds me of the hell-sections of Doom3, for some reason. Quote
rockdude86 Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 another pic of a real early corridor: it stil needs a lot of work on the bricks and there still are some lighting issues. also thanx for the comments and im trying out some things with wooden support beams as reno mentioned but i havent fount my twist there just jet Quote
