Skjalg Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 im really digging your 3d skybox.. more pictures pls (make your own thread perhaps?) Was that aimed at me by some chance? I will be working on the other side of the skybox which is a cracked moon being sucked in to the vortex this weekend, so i guess I can do a new thread with wip shots, get feedback and shit. ah no, sorry, it was aimed at ultranew_b Quote
ultranew_b Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 ...ya i'm gonna open up a WIP thread within a day ! To get some comments/crits before public release. KoKo5oVaR Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Holyshit a map for farcry !!!!!!! With 3 other friends we are quite fans of farcry during lan parties, we play on little FFA maps like mp_surf or mp_radio. But after 40 times playing the two same old maps ( the others are way too big ) we were getting quite bored. So i tried myself to sandbox to see what i could make out of it and here's the result .. my first farcry map The gameplay isn't quite polished, but that's a question of the next lan party... Not sure if i will release it, so do any of you guys play farcry on a regular basis and are interested ? Quote
Erratic Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Didn't play a lot of Farcry MP but looks like a fun little map. Get some boats in there Quote
ultranew_b Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 That looks sweet ! Very nice ! I can't wait 'til the Crysis sandbox editor comes out ! Quote
Nexus Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 looking at the pictures made me feel like NOW i want to play some battlefield 2 again. Quote
JeanPaul Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 So did you make the heightmap in the Sandbox heightmap editor? Or did you make one in PS? Or what? Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Manually in Sandbox, but yeah that was pretty fun, never saw a soft as cool as this one before : Ctrl+g and bam, you are ingame. Quote
⌐■_■ Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 ..so i guess I can do a new thread with wip shots, get feedback and shit. You should. Quote
TermInator525 Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Some new de_bahrain screenshots for the Source Engine: Everything is still wip Quote
Erratic Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 Looks like a good start but everything seems kind of flat. The lighting could maybe use some more contrast as the shadowed areas aren't a whole lot darker than the lit areas. Also the geometry/details are very simple and clean and I think you could pull a lot more detail out of the Source engine and dirty the place up a bit. It's just as it stands now, the geometry especially, strikes me as Half-Life 1-ish (I hate that phrase). Just take the ground terrain for instance, it's really simple and flat with very little change in elevation. Also it lacks a blend texture which is pretty much a must for most terrain in Source. Some blended rocks/rough dirt alone would really help the scenes out. The details like the crates and material overhangs above the doors are really simple as well, things like that should really be modeled. The arch ways could really use some more poly's in there as well. But it's still wip as you said and a nice start. You've got a good foundation to build upon I think. Reminds me of some of Phillip K's early CS maps as well by the way (not a bad thing at all) Quote
Ph3nyx Posted September 27, 2007 Report Posted September 27, 2007 i think your textures are too clean, need some dirt on the bottom and the top of them The brushwork is quite good, but some angles need to be broken. Quote
JamesL Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Lacks detail and as stated above there is a lack of contrast in both the lighting and textures. As a first beta it looks solid enough though. Are you planing on a release to test the gameplay? Quote

As a first beta it looks solid enough though. Are you planing on a release to test the gameplay? ahaha.. if its a straight copy then theres no need for testing. the original played very very well (..like most of warbys maps) terminator: i was hoping you would diversify the map visually from the original map. not saying you should choose a different setting but you copied the blockyness (due to the old engine) to source, and it looks a bit cheap, u know. glad to see one of warbys maps coming to source tho. might give it a go when youre done Quote
