rockdude86 Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 just had to take some time off from grale so i made a new quake/unreal kinda map roughly 15 hours of work so far lets say im just goofin around with geo again texturing needs no mention i pressume... and uhm that also counts for the lighting. pics are 1600x1200 and theyre *once again* pretty dark for some folks *yes i do know my monitor is a little bright ghehe* also for those who know and/or are interested. just to be clear im still working on grale but progress is very slow right now. since i never actually finished a map before and a map at this scale takes a damn f*cking lot of work. especially since im also working on my modeling and texturing skills *not that grale has any of my own currently* and i have a more than fulltime job right now. ill show of some new stuff when its ready so really no saying when that will be Quote
El Moroes Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 yes it's too dark for me! But with that I can see, your structure seems good! Now you must add some details, add more variation with your materials, put some mdls and work your lights! lol yes it's a good start! Quote
Thrik Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Yeah, way too dark there. Are you using a CRT perchance? One critical issue with CRTs that affects any kind of visual work is that over time they lose their tone gamut, which means darks become darker and eventually dark greys/colours merge into just black, and it gets increasingly worse. People usually pump up their brightness/contrast/etc to compensate but invariably end up making it look like a mess for people on properly calibrated monitors like mine. LCDs don't suffer from this issue. If you're not using one, I suggest thinking about upgrading since you're a visual designer. If you are using an LCD, I suggest checking out some thorough calibration sites like this. Quote

Rick_D Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 an editor shot is a little more apropiate for viewing then maybe you're using imageshack - so unless by viewing you mean watching a white loading page for 5 minutes before it eventually times out - then no, it's not better for viewing Quote
Psy Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Instead of bitching about Imageshack why not suggest a better image hosting site? Huh? HUH? Quote
