NykO18 Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Moroes, that's cool, but I'd try to add some more faces to the hangars, the edges are really showing right now, and smoother angles would be totally worth it Agreed, but his map seems to be a "total open space". I don't think he has the possibility to extra-detail stuff if he wants to keep framerate high. Quote
Rick_D Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 very nice atmosphere, moroes - gotta agree with Hessi: it's not normandy and that's a massive plus in my book Quote

Now come on, you of all people aren't going to tell me that'd bring performance down...You know better than that Quote
Albatros Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Hey Rick_D, reference pics: http://www.kellerlokal-raubritter-nuern ... mg0176.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... rg_f_n.jpg Cheers, Albatros Quote
Furyo Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Those are called "mansarde" named after French architect François Mansart (though the Louvre, built 50 years before his time, already had similar designs) and are just a way to gain luminosity in attics, where all the royal servants were housed. Quote
Albatros Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Right, Mansarde is the word . In German it's the "Dachgaube". They've been common for 700 years, but for some reason totally limited to a few major cities in Franconia. Shows that for some 500 years Germany has been a headless chaos consisting of a thousand independent states that didn't care too much for each other . Mmh.. alright, I'll shut up . @ Moroes: Looking sweet! Keep it coming! Quote

von*ferret Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 that's so cool moroes. i really like the new environment for dod:s i cant take the normandy/italian villages any more! too bad I'm making one then huh. Quote
El Moroes Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Thanks all!! Sure, I could add more details, but I want to make a simple map with high FPS! All the structures are kind of simple, but I'm sure you'll like it anyway! hehe Quote
Nubblecakes Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 Here is my newest WIP map. Probably my best work so far: WIP thread: http://www.mapcore.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8249 Name: De_archipelago Percent complete: 65% History of map: Believe it or not, but this map has it's history. I originally started out with this: As you can see, It has REALLY improved since. I believe that I started this thing in September of last year. That is the earliest I could find. That was version two, I called it "micro_island." The very original had no rock Arch or any rock clusters out in the distance, it was just a single, tiny island with an inaccessible house. Now, it's a cluster of islands, with custom content, HDR lighting, and tactical properties. Hopefully the map will be finished by May 23rd, as that is the last day of school here for me. During the summer, I have to get cracking on one large atoll with a lagoon in it. Quote
Mkz Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Too bad you left that rock arch in i agree... it should be removed. Quote
