General Vivi Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 looking pretty good wesely . ^^ i guess adding grundge would all depend on the setting ur crane is in But anyways , looks good Quote
Meotwister Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Thats a nice crane. I could imagine like dust or idk paint chipping off? wouldnt think it would rust so idk.. maybe greasy lookin around where the wheels or the pulley is. I think it would work if you just made it a bit grimier .. not like a whole lot but a visible amount to i guess notice it. lovin the forested area tomdon. Quote
e-freak Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 It's in the top of the hanger, how many things get up there ? maybe rats engraving their names in it ? I dunno? I have no idea what would make it look grim other than dust. artstyle Quote
Skjalg Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 I work with cranes like this, they become pretty gritty after the first two months (if even that long) OMG HAI!~~ Quote
ReFlex Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Oldschool rocks! For the "The Wall Mappack" : Max 600 w_polies allowed: Damn, World Craft 2.1 is funny oldschool. Quote
Minos Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 hmm I think it sould be better if you used a lighter-gray color for the fog I love that kind of environment, keep it up moroes Quote
Kabelen Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I love the envorinment moroes! Could be a bit brighter and as min0z says, the fog could have a brighter tone on the grayscale! Otherwise really nice! Quote
Josch Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 @ReFlex: Hehe, sweet. Looks much better than many source-maps Quote
El Moroes Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Thanks men!! Okay I will try to get a lighter-gray color for the fos as you said me Mino Quote
Dradz Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 In the 3rd shot, the pallet has a noticeable shadow -- is there a streetlight above (that we can't see) causing this? The shadow looks a little too crisp if being caused from a more distant light source. Great mood, though, overall! Quote

The shadows aren't caused by lights in the environment, they're all from a set angle (I assume whatever angle light_env is?). That's why you get this kind of thing happening. Quote

LOL -- as you can probably tell from my post count, even if I did work with the source engine, I may not be smart enough to realize its shortcomings. So, the pallet is picking up the light_env "light" for its shadow, why doesn't the sign a little farther away have a similar shadow? (or is it washed out due to the fog?) In the screenshot you linked to, how would you control that situation? Disable shadows on the table model? Use an info_lighting set to the lamp on the wall? Quote
SnipaMasta Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Quite simply, you can't. That's one of the many problems with the Source engne - although they're adding dynamic lighting I think. Guess it's just a "hope no one notices" kind of thing. Quote
Defrag Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Sauce really needs some shadow mapping or something added. Quote
