tomdon Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 Just started back up on this map, I think I posted a shot a while back. *edit* Pictures to big? Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 nice although the second pic has too many hard lines in the terrain, i see like three separate displacements that dont blend. the first looks good, but the scaling looks silly either that flag is 2 feet tall or you're playing mind games Quote
IR Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 that looks great man, i sugest putting some heavy spec/cubemap on the mud perhaps some puddles to make it feel abit more alive in a way great work though! Quote
⌐■_■ Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 As always: beautiful! Also: what Bic said about the not blending displacements. Quote
tomdon Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 I made them not blending because I wanted them to be more of a real cliff face, rather than a smooth hilly with a distorted rock texture on them. Quote
SnipaMasta Posted February 2, 2007 Report Posted February 2, 2007 But if a rock was there for ages grass etc. would grow slightly over it, not a jagged line like that. Quote
Wesley Tack Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Here a prop i made today for my map: Ingame: Quote
SnipaMasta Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Is it meant to be 30 tonne (as in the weight)? Looks good ingame, although given the grime on the warehouse walls I'd imagine it to be a bit more dirty on the edges. Quote
BlueCoatKarma Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 It's spelled "ton" in the U.S., "tonne" in most other places I think. Both words come from French tunne. It's either 2000lbs. or 2240lbs (~1000kg), depending on if it's a short or long ton(ne). I agree it might fit in better if it were a bit grimier, but the warehouse doesn't look all that grimy to me. The only real giveaway is that there's a light out, so... yeah. Also, sometimes equipment is kept in good condition for maintenance reasons when everything else looks bad. Quote
Wesley Tack Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 It's in the top of the hanger, how many things get up there ? maybe rats engraving their names in it ? I dunno? I have no idea what would make it look grim other than dust. Quote
DudeTor Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 I work with cranes like this, they become pretty gritty after the first two months (if even that long) Quote
hydeph Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 along the rail where the crane slides would be greased, so it would be grungey, greasy, probably no dirt but tracks along where the rail travels Quote
Wesley Tack Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 We have one of them ourselves in our hangar. It's been there for 3 years, and it's pretty much the same... we work in metal every day with big constructions and welding etc etc. It wasn't new when we mounted it, but like I said, it hasn't changed a lot the past 3 years. What kind of work do you do ? Quote
