KoKo5oVaR Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 that's looking pretty nice, from the top . What about the gameplay anyway ? Quote

ColonelBurton Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 I like your creativity but the map will get boring after 10 minutes playing. @my post: Thank you. Further Screenshots will follow in a few weeks. Quote
hamst3r Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Okay since my last test map was a failure, I wanted to try to get back into mapping seriously. This is a small texture / theme test map for my upcoming map. It is going to be an oriental / chinese garden. I am trying my hardest to learn how to texture well, and that is probally the main goal of this project. All custom content is either mine or (hessie's they are place holders ). The textures are not prefect, but this is my first real time I have ever tried to make textures for a map. Sorry if the jpg compression is shitty  Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 The kiosk is a model right? nice stuff there hamstah, the part where the water is, still looks a bit plain, but that's just a start i guess. Eager to see it with an awesome skybox Quote
Evert Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 The last two are great! I am not too fond of the stone walkway in the second screen though, and the third one is hard to say anything about when the surroundings are so unfinished, content looks nice still. Also in the second screen, the ivy is too repetitive, maybe have it like that once, and the rest is cleaner? Quote
Mazy Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 ooo nice hamst3r, definitely needs a lot more work and polish but I really like where this is going~~oh and the grass texture really sticks out a bit too much imo, less colourful wouldnt hurt I say Quote
hamst3r Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Thanks for the replies, but the grass texture and the ivy texture are both hessie's. They are just place holders, but then again they are kinda what I was going for, I plan on making the replacements today. Oh, and this is just a complete test map, nothing here is final, I need a layout. Quote
hessi Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Thanks for the replies, but the grass texture and the ivy texture are both hessie's. Oh, and this is just a complete test map, nothing here is final, I need a layout. i was just about to flame y0 i cant remember allwoing you to use my stuff. btw. those trees and bushes are from me too (de_mediterrano) but you can use those two models if you want. i dont like the windows you just threw over my de_corse wall texture. they look just inset. there is nothing that creates a _connection_ to the wall in the background. maybe add an overlay with dirt around the window. hamst3r Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Sorry for not asking your permission to use your wonderful models and textures, but I plan on replacing them all anyway. I have a friend who says he is willing to model me some props, and I have always wanted to learn how to model anyway. Just finished up making some new textures to replace hessi's. New grass, walkway, wall, wall/ivy textures New stone wall, wally/ivy textures (I'm not too satisfied with these yet, but I'm going to keep working on them) Quote
csharp Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 is it because of your settings, or is that grass a bit blurry? Quote
hessi Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 the wall reminds me of something.... http://www.thomashess.net/IMG_8045.JPG btw: i should start my own "3d.sk" or "mayang" or "environment-texutres" Quote
hamst3r Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Yepp <3 I was having trouble going through Mayang trying to find a rock wall refrence that I actaully like, then I eventualy gave up. And then I was browsing through the WIP texture section and I was like "Oh my God." Quote
michi.be Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 i dont like this walkway very much. looks to blocky. maybe you should place some omf the bricks loosely around at the way. i think that will give it a more realistic touch. Quote
