KungFuSquirrel Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I actually did a double-take as I was scrolling down the page; I wasn't expecting to see anything for q4, let alone that much of a match for one of our maps. Wouldn't mind seeing some more dramatic lighting more along the lines of the hub maps, but otherwise the texturing and geometry look great. Good use of geometry from hub, too, it really helps pull it into that theme but it's not overdone to the point where it feels like a lame ripoff. Nicely done. Quote
Meotwister Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 lol or was that sphere? ah they're all the same. nice job r_yell and freakman. r_yell and his crazy terrain maps! Quote
D3ads Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 That's brilliant, can't wait to see it in action. PS: Event Horizon ftw! Quote
R_Yell Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 I'm aware about the horizont, is off on purpose. Could be called "foggy skybox", it matches the map fog color to prevent some ugly effects when you have a giant map with z clip distance and 3dskybox. It works because they can't be seen Quote
Freakman Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Thanks guys! It's a mischmasch of Event Horizon and Sphere. I love these films! Quote
csharp Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Freakman, thats.. thats.. Thats a one smoking hot map Quote
mabufo Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Why do my support beams look completely fake? I think they may be too big... 16x16. Maybe it's the dev texture? It'll be a pain in the ass to resize them. Ugh... Also, are there too many? not enough? let me know. Quote
dc-mike Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 i think itll look good with textures, put some on a couple of the beams and recompile. i bet it will look better Quote
mabufo Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Thank you for the reassurance... I have, however, some other parts of the map I want to finish before I start the texturing. Quote
RD Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Some of the beams look 1 unit thick, and others 10000. Also some of those beams are hanging from the sides of the fat beams. Quote
VoodooBenshee Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 i found some time to continue building my quake 4 map "dm_stoned". the map layout is as far as ready. now i will add some more textures and more details. still lots of work, how you can see pics are from the editor, not ingame Quote
Stracciatella Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Oh its just one of my maps im working on and its a singleplayer game.. my first one.. well.. i try to finish it.. I dont know but its some underground base you know.. this base is deep under the ground thats why it looks like it does. Quote
Evert Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Cool one VoodooBenshee! I like it a lot, especially the two first ones. The third one looks kinda strange with that orange...pipes? Stracciatella, dunno it lacks character and has some weird texture usage. Quote
Crackerjack Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 A little something i have been messing with. Quote
