Sa74n Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 hipshot: nice to see some mapping from you again. i really dig the lighting set up (as in most of your other maps) and atmosphere in those shots. you should get back to source engine maps afterwards though. q3 is a bit too old by now Quote
alexroyce Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Looks pretty good Hipshot, but just like others said, Q3 is pretty dated and ugly. Get back to Source Quote
Hipshot Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 I never left Source, I multi-develop. At work, at home. Since it's so cold outside, I wont go out so I just map. Q3 is fun to map for, probably the last good brush based game to map for and not using models in the same way. Gameplay movie. Alpha testing with a friend. http://www.zfight.com/misc/files/q3/int ... e-xvid.rar ~50MB, xvid. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 you ashould hit up doom or quake 4, those are really fun from what i have played around with and what ive heard from my buddies from 3wave. Quote
Hipshot Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Already did some D3E developing. The editor, Q4radiant, is just so bad, I hate it so damn much. When GTK1.5 gets good Q4 support, I'll make an engine breaker or something. Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Thats good old radiant. You either love it or you hate it. /me pets radiant. Quote
KungFuSquirrel Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 It seems you can only love one version of Radiant, too... So many people swear by GTK, yet so many others just refuse to go anywhere near it (myself included ) Quote
Grinwhrl Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I dont mind the new radiant, then again im still learning Quote
PS_Mouse Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 I keep wanting to do something with radient, but I'm yet to find work on project that I can use it for. Source's lack of support for Radient is also irritating. Quote

Belgarion Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 i won't touch anything but Gtk 1.4... then again, I havn't touched that or Hammer in months.. sandbox is the only map editor i've opened in a very long time, and that's only in the last few days. Looks great Belgarion. But isnt the environment lightning to bluish and cold?Well, those were the default settings. I think it looks fine. Maybe i'll toy with it later. I've been making an oasis map which.. eh.. looks borring. again, the environment settings are what need tweaking. Quote

Looks very characteristic and more important: the layout seems to be really thought out and neat! awesome. Quote
Taylor Swift Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 My map on bf2.. so what ya think? I don't know yet why the terrain surface looks like grid but I'm going to fix it later.. The map is without lighting because this is a new test and it takes long time to compile with full (vrad) vis (objects and materials). Hopes ya like it nothing to see much but it's worth it when i'll show more later you will understand. need feedback, does anyone know any good online bf2 mapping tutorials? PLEASE. Quote
