Ginger Lord Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 This album is simply amazing. Will be getting a physical copy on Monday! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCdMMd3dpk4 Quote
Section_Ei8ht Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 I am a rabid Muse fan, been so since Origin of Symmetry, but I gotta say I'm a tad underwhelmed at the moment. I appreciated the different direction, but it just doesn't sound all that epic to me (compared to the last three albums), with the exception of the Exogenesis symphony. Don't get me wrong, it's a great album on it's own, and I'll be picking it up, but when you put it next to Absolution and Origin of Symmetry, it would fall flat if it wasn't for Exogenesis. It probably just needs time to grow on me. I was a bit baffled by United States of Eurasia at first (a bit too "queen"-esqe for my tastes), but it has certainly grown on me. Uprising, Undisclosed Desires, and Exogenesis are awesome, but the rest just didn't have that same awesome punch that previous Muse has had. Quote
Ginger Lord Posted September 11, 2009 Author Report Posted September 11, 2009 I sort of agree, it's hard to compare all the different albums as each is markedly different from the others (except perhaps Showbiz/Origin) but each definitely has a time and a place. It's definitely more mellow than previous albums but thats not a bad thing in my book, now I have some Muse that won't get my heart pumping whilst driving and end up hitting 100mph... Quote

Whole-heartily agree. I'm just not a big fan of the current time and place It's definitely more mellow than previous albums but thats not a bad thing in my book, now I have some Muse that won't get my heart pumping whilst driving and end up hitting 100mph... I thought I was the only one with Muse-inspired speeding tickets Quote

I pretty much agree, one of the songs sounds almost like depeche mode or something(not a bad thing). Overrall though there isn't a whole lot that stands out. Definitely not their best album, hopefully it will grow on me. Quote
