Bananenminister Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Hi, After I visited this board irregularly in the last time to look at wip projects and finished maps (generally DoD:S, L4D) in the forums, I decided that it's time to show you my own map project for Day of Defeat: Source: dod_avenger. Some pictures for first impressions: I've uploadet a .bsp file at rapidshare.com: http://rapidshare.com/files/271839543/d ... er_test.7z (file 33mb zipped, 66mb unzipped, includes the map file and a unnecessary readme in german language with no important content... ). This version is a bit newer than the one the pics are from. But as you know from the title of this thread, the map is still under construction and there is much left to be done for a release (balancing, lighting, tweaking some effects...). Running through the map, you will surely see many places still looking odd... However, the map is already playable (requires better PC because no optimization has been done so far) and ready to make some small gameplay tests. I hope you can give some constructive feedback (especially gameplay) or any tips for improvement. It is not my intention to create a hyperrealistic environment but I want to build a map with solid gameplay and immersive atmosphere. So far. Quote
DaanO Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 You really need to give some areas a more specific look, everything looks the same which makes it less immersive and harder to play (navigation). In some areas it's going to mean you'll have to change quite a bit of the looks, just a little damage or collapsed houses here and there won't do it, so it's hard to comment on anything else so far.
