Sindwiller Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 Please tell me the movie doesn't actually call it unobtainium and you're just using that to substitute the plot device. they do, as ridiculous as it sounds. It's an inside joke - I didn't get it the first time I heard it Quote
2d-chris Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 best sci fi epic ever, best visual effects ever, the rebirth of 3d that will make others follow. Quote
-HP- Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Watched it yesterday. The best cinematographic experience, I've ever had. Quote
Zacker Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 I now finally also got around to see it, having really high expectations after having heard so much rave about it. It started out a bit slow but then it just went on to be one of the best frikkin movie experiences ever! I was so blown away when I got out of the cinema and I could not at all get my hands down. I don't think such a relatively predictable story has ever been told so well. Quote
-HP- Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 starting slow and finishing in a climax is part of James Cameron brand. Quote
PogoP Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I noticed a similarity between this film's soundtrack and the 'Enemy at the Gates' soundtrack... After a quick google search, low and behold... The same composer did both film scores! Just found this video on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= Or click this if that doesn't work. Quote
2d-chris Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Welcome to the world of popular music ... Being original usually fails + Horners scores are some of the best ever. Quote
Sentura Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 funny you should mention, there are also some similarities between this and the pieces he did for braveheart. Quote
Seldoon182 Posted January 2, 2010 Author Report Posted January 2, 2010 Apart the OST, the James Cameron's vision of earth is very close to Blade runner! Quote
Sentura Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 Apart the OST, the James Cameron's vision of earth is very close to Blade runner! um, isn't it almost the same as tokyo is right now by night? give or take a few extra ad screens. Quote

2d-chris Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 cool, but who wants a mech suit when you could have something alien ;( http://www.surrealaward.com/avatar/ampsuitvideo.shtml Quote
D3ads Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 Oh wow... what a film! The attention to detail is staggering, the alien creatures, the jungle itself and the wildlife, even the military units and ships, however much they looked like something we've seen before were incredidably well done and the facial expressions on the Navi looked like they could be real people, especially on Sigourney's character, it was quite eerie. All those saying that this isn't anything new are sooooo wrong, the benchmark for the ultimate cinematic experience has been raised, Cameron is the fucking man So glad it ended the way it did, I was actually really angry when the humans destroyed the tree and hoped that the Navi would get their revenge, I thought it might be a lame ending like the two leads dying with the rest of the clans, unable to stop the unstoppable force but I'm glad the bad guys got their come uppance, we all cheered when the captain got the arrows fired at him I'm definately going to see it again if I can! -HP- Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 I'm definately going to see it again if I can! I did watched it a second time today! I can go back to Germany happy now! I just hope you guys watched it in 3D, It's fucking awesome. Up until now I hated 3D, because It's all fake, basically it blurs the pic, giving the feeling of depth, in exchange for image quality, sharpness, etc, but not Avatar! It's the first decent 3D movie I've ever watched, although I admit I didn't watched many. it proves 3D is pretty cool if well executed. (I hate the fact that people call it 3D btw, it is in fact 2.5D ) Quote
2d-chris Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 I saw it again today too, soo cool I needed a new avatar so I chose her ;P Quote
