Izuno Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 Sorry to bring this back on topic, but I finally took my wife to see Avatar. She generally falls asleep in anything sci-fi or fantasy. Her idea of torture is being forced to stay awake through Lord of the Rings. Anyway, she loved this movie. :megaman: As for me, I liked it even more seeing it for a 3rd time. I haven't seen a movie more than once in a theater since seeing the Matrix 12 times back in my Chicago days. It's funny, now I don't mind the weak dialogue, even though at first I thought it was distracting. I was not expecting it but for me it's gone from Friendly to Honored to Revered...almost to Exalted. I think i the long run it will be on my top 10 all time list (Cameron's Aliens is already on there...) Meanwhile, soundtrack is ex-ell-excellent, though I like most anything James Horner does. Quote
Warby Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 i have a useful contribution to this tangential discussion skip to 2:00 if you are unpatiant back to topic: on evil avatar they posted that if you adjust avatars gross for inflation and also consider rising ticket prices its sonly the 26th highest grossing movie of all time so sitll quit a bit to go until it beats titanic ... none the less i am very suprised with the earning power of this movie i was sure this would be a flop ! Buddy Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Movie grosses should be counted in tickets sold, not in $, pretty much like games (copies sold) do. Quote
Sentura Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 haha what? hey while we're at it, let's start using tickets instead of monetary value. Quote
Skjalg Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 Buddy has a point. It raises the question of why is movies rated with how much it sells for in cinema while games are rated by how many copies it sell like the first week? Quote
Sentura Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Buddy has a point. It raises the question of why is movies rated with how much it sells for in cinema while games are rated by how many copies it sell like the first week? games too are rated by the overall gross income. Quote
Sentura Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 that just looks a bit weird... Quote

Steppenwolf Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 If we want to know more about a movies popularity counting tickets would indeed make more sense. Quote
